Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can't believe Chapman is out there.

Game 7, bottom of the 9th. Will we see another Joe Carter-esque walk-off homer? Every kid's dream.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

    Wow, going with Chapman.

It's official. Joe Madden hates all his other relief pitchers.

It's official. Joe Madden hates all his other relief pitchers.

Or is hedging his bets cos he reckons it'll go to extras.

Indians have Ryan Shaw, Cubs have Mike Montgomery.

Cubs best batters are up now. If they're gonna win, it has to be now. Someone be a hero.

Delay it until tomorrow!!! Arrieta can come in and be the hero.

It has to be said, it's been a great game. Couldn't ask for more.

Going again at a quarter past. I can see myself driving into work in a couple of hours with no sleep.

Absolutely unbelievable game. Both teams have served up a seriously good series

I love people talking about Chapman's fatigue..."he was only throwing 98mph at the end"

    So close for Bryant!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

    That didn't work for Cleveland.

EDIT: The walks really didn't work!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,224 ✭✭✭✭SantryRed

Heyward, if ever there was one swing of a bat that could justify that 8 year contract, its this one! :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

Ahhhh feck.. Bad way to lose this

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Poor by Hayward! Some more Baez magic maybe?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

This inning shows why you don't keep the same pitcher in after a rain delay

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭Waitsian

Cubs haven't won since 1908?! Wow, and I thought Maple Leafs fans were smarting from having not won since 1967. 108 years. Wow.

Left work at the 8th thinking it was over. How wrong was I!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

That "blue chip prospect" comment about Edwards Jr was used for Hendricks around 8 innings ago, commentators are struggling now.

    Deja vu............?

Oh god, here we go again...

I'd genuinely bring in Arrieta for one out if he feels good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Never ending. No sign of Arrieta yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,366 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Oh man this is tense. Probably the last at bat of the game coming up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭Waitsian

I'd hate to be a fan of either team right now. Tense and nervous! Will they send Davis? Will the Cubs even hold him?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

    There it is!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,941 ✭✭✭krustydoyle

And the curse is no more..

    Well done to the Cubs

Love the way Bryant was smiling as the ball was coming to him and then started to slip when throwing, he must have had some big "oh sh1t" moment in his head.

Congrats to the Cubs! What a game, incredible.

    Free Steve Bartman....!!!!!

I daresay, and indeed I hope, we see him interviewed soon. Or at least a pic of him celebrating. Poor guy.

Well done Cubs, the curse has been lifted (unlike Mayo!). I went to a game in Wrigley Field years ago so they are my team I guess.

Not a baseball fan at all but when I heard they won all I could think of was this scene from an 80's Belushi movie.

    Congrats Cubbies.
I was cheering for the Indians despite always having a soft spot for the Cubs after a J1 in Chicago back in 04
Suppose I just wanted the smaller market team to win.
I imagine the Cubs will progress well over the next few years based on their young team.
Just hope the Dodgers can figure out the playoffs soon.
Enjoy the celebrations all Cub fans

Also, most be strange for the Cleveland fans. Laugh at Golden State for losing after being ahead 3-1, and then only a few months later, experience the same pain

What a night, what a game!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 924 ✭✭✭lambayire

One hell of a game. I listened to it in between snoozing in bed last night.

At some stage, I started dreaming about the Chicago players celebrating.
It was then that I woke up and figured it was all over. I plugged in the headphones to
hear Chapman give up the game tying HR.

I then nodded off again and woke at 5.30 to see the text alert that the Cubs had won it.
I was sure I was blearily seeing things. I could not have seen any way they came back to win it
after that devastating moment from Chapman.

A remarkable win and I am very happy for the Cubs fans. Enjoy it!!!
