Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've descaled a three of machines in the last week, and again would not be sure if I should blame the use of fake pods. I got some satisfaction (i.e. improvement) with two of the machines - the one that gave no improvement is the oldest and most used machine, so owes us nothing anyway. I used a sachet of stuff that came with filter papers for a filter machine on one of the Nespressos, and used a bottle of stuff I got in Mr Price on the other two. Still thinking of trying the sachets they had in Aldi last week.

Just wondering why you are thinking of descaling. We were getting a lot of water gathering in the drip tray, and as I say, it has improved that in two of the machines. Our machines are all Pixie.

We have never descaled before and we have had the machines for years.

Funny I'm wondering the same thing about one batch of capsules I got the other day in Lidl. I'll check it with different ones later.

surely you only need to descale in a hard water area? The water pushes through the pod at the very last bit, so choice of pod shouldn't come into it if it needs to be descaled. To test, draw a cup without any pod in the machine, if the water flows well, then scaling is not an issue.

Flow of coffee depends on the flow of water through the pod.

The aldi and other pods have different coverings and are made from plastic (nespresso are aluminium), I find if I have to use the aldi ones I'll push down the lever quickly and hard to get a good piercing into them. If I just push down normally, flow will be slow.

My Nespresso started giving odd measurements so I just reset it (see the manual) Took 3 mins and everything went back to the way it should be.

    Good tip. Thanks.

I live in a soft water area, so you are right. Descaling shouldn't be an issue. We have another machine in a holiday home in a hard water area.
