    Hi

we have a twelve year old who is expecting a mobile phone in the next few days. We want him to have one, but would like to be able to restrict the websites he visits, and have as much parentl control/monitoring as is possible, so we can ease him gently into this new world.

We have been informed that Apple phones are great for restricting websites and apps. But Apples are twice the price of other phones.

Anyone know what phone we can get him, which will give us the access we need?

    Thanks

Sophos security is a great app. Allows you to block by category.

Thanks. That software is fine as malware protection etc. But from a Parent point of view, there is no way of restricting specific websites, i there? That's really what we're looking for.

Unless you're willing to root the device, which is a technical process and sometimes voids the warranty, then you can't really do much. All he'd have to do is reset the phone away he goes with 100% access.

If you think he hasn't seen everything the net has to offer on his mates phone by now then you're kidding yourself. Teach him to be responsible online, thats a battle you can actually win.
