Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Athletico really have a nasty streak which is a pity as they have real quality.

A team tends to take after their manager, so that explains that

If Atletico can hang on for a 2-1 defeat I'd say they'll be happy enough. It's not the worst result in a two leg game. At least they gave an away goal.

Wake up, there's 10 minutes to go and Barcelona aren't done yet.

    Zing!

Unfortunately At. Madrid don't have a super human god like Ronaldo who is able to still win against these unfair Barca advantages

He deserved to be sent off, that's not bitter. Should we only send off players who we shouldn't be lucky to be watching?

It was a wonderful goal and the reaction is to say he should have been off.

People say on here you also follow Chelsea ?

    surely not ?

Man city next season I think

To be fair, anyone who likes to see flowing football and great skill win out, shouldn't be cheering on Atletico, they are anti football if you can have that in Spain

Anyone who loves the underdog, and dislikes the huge teams always getting decisions would be going for atletico, also if you actually watch la liga you would know that atletico play good stuff, if it was 11 on 11 or 10 v 10 you would see their quality, ref has shafted them to be fair

How do you feel about the referee's display today? Seeing as you so frequently talk about those in dealing with Real.

It was a great goal, but he should've been off before hand. Nothing wrong in saying that

Jaysus if I was that ref I'd be telling the whole lot to **** off. Seriously annoying when they surround him every 30 seconds

I'd love once, just once, to see how the Spanish teams would react to a rugby style ref.

They'd both be down to less than 7 men before half time

He blatantly kicked someone. Torres didn't get the luxury of staying on to score more beautiful goals.

Well of course that is the natural reaction to when a player who could have been sent off twice scores a goal, it doesn't matter who he is

The Barca kit is like camouflage to referees.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,114 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Messi should've been booked for diving there.

I couldn't do it, I'd be using Jordi Alba as a punching bag all match.

Could easily have been a red for Augusto

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,595 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

Augusto lucky to stay on with that tackle! could and probably should have been red, wonder will he score now

The ref has got to never to a big game again, clear penalty for Messi and should have sent of Augusto

Few posters pulling a Wenger on the Augusto challenge.

Messi dived. Had nowhere to go with the ball and threw himself into the player. He should've been booked for simulation if anything.

Messi lost control of the ball and ran into the defender, it was never a pen.

I know Atletico cam play well, but they often get too dirty when they play the bugger teams. They don't need to.

The bad decisions from the reef was not booking busquets for the first foul and he missed the kick by suatez. That's about it. He hasn't been awful.

Torres deserved to go and most of the yellows for athletico have been cynical fouls.

Possibly cos it's a highly relevant fact, or heat of the moment. Always happens!

Ref has been a shambles, favoured barca for 85 minutes and now appears to let them away with bits!

Considering they played with 10 men for an hour and they got an away goal, I think they'd consider it a great result.
Still think barca will get another though

Lucas winning a free kick in the box that's not even a free kick and then he play acts to try to get the Barca player sent off. He shouldn't even be on the pitch either as he should have been sent off about ten minutes previously.

In fairness to him it must be a nightmare to ref these type of games. He is a very expierenced ref in fairness to him.

Ref has completely lost control. Augusto could have went too. The damage has already been done however.

Holding and actually pushing a player out of position with both arms wrapped around him.

Yeah because we all hate one of the best club teams to play the game. We just wanted to see fairness, thats all

In fairness a game like this would be nothing but hardship to ref.

Perhaps you do, but several people have a clear biased hatred against Barcelona...and I just find it hilarious. Each to their own, I just think it's gas.

Atletico won't be too disappointed with that.

Barcelona were shafted enough times in the Champions league over the years

    You must be joking

  • Registered Users Posts: 507 ✭✭✭runnerholic

Both sides will be reasonably happy with that. Sending off deserved but changed game. Barcelona still the best team to watch in world football.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,561 ✭✭✭✭CSF

In fairness a game like this would be nothing but hardship to ref.

He couldn't have done much worse a job. Shocking that TV3 have not shown one replay of the Suarez incident.

Atleti have to be delighted with that result in hindsight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,595 ✭✭✭✭Trigger

Barca will be disappointed with that, 60 mins against 10 men, its all to play for in the second leg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Eventful game anyway. Athletico would have been happy with that before the game. Would have been interesting to see how it went if Torres wasn't so stupid.

Athletico created enough opportunities before the red to give them confidence going into the 2nd leg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,561 ✭✭✭✭CSF

Didn't even see the Neymar foul in the buildup to the first in real time. Jesus.

Haha let's get real. There's a clear and obviously group of posters on here who detest Barcelona every bit as much as I love Barça. The only difference is these same posters try to claim neutrality and thus morale superiority but look at any Barcelona match thread and you'll find the same posters bashing them constantly.
