My 3 yr old has a turn in his foot which looks to be getting progressively worse. I also suspect he may have weak muscles in his legs as his legs spnetimes buckle under him and he can get tired quicker than others. I'm just wondering where do I start? With physiotherapy or orthotics?

Have you talked to your gp about your concerns first

Go to your GP and/or your public health nurse. Get a referral to a specialist paediatric physio. At 3years old there is a lot to be done outside of orthotics (which he may or may not need in conjunction with physio).

    Good Luck

We're going through AON with the HSE and he will be referred for physio but the wait times are mad so I want to explore private options. Will chat more to our GP. Thanks.

My first had issues with her ankles that meant she walked on the side of her feet, she was a late walker as she never crawled but bum shuffled. She walked at 22 months, we got her orthotics at 26 months. Her left leg was half the mass of her right due to the way she shuffled so we were concerned that was causing problems too.

Thankfully my sil is a physio and she recommended we start with orthotics before physio, which worked incredibly well for us, she wore them for 6 months and we have no issues now

That's very similar to a conversation i had with another mother whose daughters walk appeara very like my sons. I don't want to let it drag it on too long as o can see it getting worse and I'm concerned that correction will therefore become more difficult.

What harm could an appointment with an orthotics place do? I think like you, it's better to be proactive if you can.

I used podiatry.ie as they were based in my GP's clinic, quick service and very child friendly, not sure where else we would have tried.

Anyone had my experience of been treated 6 time by a HSE physiotherapist and just given hand outs.
A told it's best practice as it's proven the exercise is the only best long term solution.
I got no manipulation at all.
When I complained I was told I been doing this for years and even have private practice.
