Dortmund made about 20 yards on that throw in, they've been at it all game.

Liverpool have had as many clear cut chances, if not more, than Dortmund have had.

They never used the double pivot though, so they're not worth mentioning .

Bar the goal from the corner, Dortmund have created very little.

    Touch wood.

Is that down to Allen's vertical lines?

I don't remember talking that much about chances created, only that Dortmund's shift in shape gave then greater control and attacking variety than what they had in the first half. Liverpool have counter attacked pretty well, which you'd expect of a Klopp team.

If we play like the away team at Anfield and give them all the possession, I could see us hammering them on the break. Counter attacks suit us absolutely perfectly, we've played our best games without the lion's share of possession.

Liverpool owe that draw to their triple pivot.

No man, its down to the axis that he created, the axis!!!

Dortmund evidently not superior to all teams in the premiership.

    Actually they did......

whats hummels like against more physical forwards. very classy player but seems to be given lots of time on the ball in this game.
wander what he would be like in the prem. reminds me of agger.

Klopp has forgotten what team he is managing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,294 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

For all that domination by Dortmund that was a an lucky draw for Liverpool i mean Dortmund has so much ball they should have won a hat full, just don't take into account Liverpool had the better chances when Dortmund let them have the ball a few times.

Great result for Liverpool, I thought Dortmund would win, still all to play for. Hope the 2nd leg is as entertaining as tonight's game.

What a strange place this is....

**** Milner, what was the point of that?

Anyway, great result, though i'm oddly disappointed we didn't win. We were much the more dangerous team tonight. Dortmund when it came down to it couldn't create real chances in the face of Sakho and Lovren.

Annoying to concede from a stupid crossed ball again.

We really need to get better with taking our clear cut chances though, could easily have been 3 tonight with better finishing.

Great result. Hopefully we finish the job at home now.

I honestly never thought I'd say it, but damn Lovren looks like he's worth every penny now. Who'd have thought it?

Enjoyed Dortmunds impression of Man United tonight. Quite a good take off, Liverpool defended well and give themselves a real shot at getting through the tie. Should be a good second leg.

Actually a bit disappointed Liverpool didn't win that in the end. Had less of the ball as you'd imagine but had nearly all the best chances. Hope they don't regret not going home with a 2-1 win.

What's the story if the team that wins the Europa league has already qualified for the Champions League. Is the place just lost.

    Yes.

Lovern has turned into a bit of no nonsense defender. He booted away a lot of ball today when in doubt. I don't mind it in fairness.

Sort of. It filters down somewhere, but doesn't go to the country of the team that wins it.

Is there already a fair bit more gray in Klopp's beard than there was a few months ago?

Good result for Pool. Had a feeling they would get something tonight. Dortmund are a massively overrated side, especially on this board. A couple of exceptional forwards but they are let down by a bang average back line.
If you get at them you are in business.

They miss Gundogan in the press, Sahin made a bit of a difference in that respect in the 2nd half but Gundogan's energy and running power is massive in this team and does help to relieve pressure off the back four. It's not that they're back line is average, rather just that they commit so heavily to the press most of the time that they can end up with very little protection.

Eh.... Aubameyang has 23/26 for them this season

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Tuchel's words crawl up on you and slash at your flesh as you're not looking. He says that Dortmund struggled to find their rhythm, that it took them time to grow into the game (I'd say roughly 25 minutes until they gained control), their precision wasn't there and that they never reached top level. His comment about that early chance is correct too, they should have scored there and that would have drawn Liverpool out but alas no. I'd say his summary is spot on.

If you're going to try to make a point then make a relevant one. Aubameyang has 36 goals in 41 games this season (including 10 in Europe). Thats pretty clinical. However he didn't get a sniff tonight thanks to Liverpools defence.
