Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ryan Tubridy has revealed he narrowly missed being maimed in a freak accident at a trendy Dublin city burger joint this week.

    http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/television/tv-news/ryan-tubridy-narrowly-escaped-being-skewered-by-pole-smashing-through-a-window-at-dublin-burger-joint-34609686.html

Ryan Tubridy will be on to tell Tubs about his harrowing ordeal this week and how those nasty internet people are mean to him. Or maybe not

Brush Shiels attempts to break the Indoor/Outdoor 100 metres over 70s World Record by running from outside McCoys in Carrigstown to the Late Late Show Studio Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Multiple World Championship Winner Sonia O'Sullivan will talk about ... I dunno - Athletics and stuff probably. Maybe she'll challenge Brush to a Guitar Solo Duel. Possibly about how she would have won even more if those Drug Cheats didn't Just Say No.

Philip 'PBH' Boucher-Hayes is on a mission from God to tell everyone they shouldn't be eating cheap tasty fatty foods. Mmmm Why are all the tasty foods so bad for you? Eating a burger won't kill you. Unless you are Ryan Tubridy.

Senator Professor John Crown says he won't be running for the Seanad again. I daresay he'll have lots more to say, he's well able to talk.

Good news for friend of the thread Ned from Kerry as there's a Great Big Debate About Rural Issues featuring "environmental planner Conor Skehan talking about a future in which there's an increasing drift towards the cities. A panel including independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice, the Irish Farmer's Journal's Mairead Lavery and businessman Peter Ward will argue it out with him." No, I'm not familiar with any of them either. Bring back Mart and Market, I say.

There's music from the legendary Stockton's Wing Do they get paid every time RTE play the Liveline theme? Fair play.

And also an appearance from Sibeal Ni Chasaide who was in the recent well received Centenary Concert.

Finally, Christy Moore has a new series starting on RTE1 on Sunday. I don't think he's on tonight (surprisingly) but here's one for you,

Which UK Number One Single (not one of Christy's) contains the lyric "Don't Forget Your Shovel if you want to go to work"?

There's no prize, but I promise to thank your post if you get the correct answer. Sure that's something money can't buy**

    ** Not true.

Looks like it another evening to catch up on what I missed on TV this week

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,964 ✭✭✭For Reals

Brush should win that record as Carrigstown is purported to be in the North inner city, so to get to RTE studios in a few minutes on foot is no mean feat.

I haven't dropped in in an age....
Well, I'm disappointed there's no Twink and the one week Louis isn't on. It's like Russian Bland roulette :)

Next week, Tubbs tells us about the time he almost stepped out in front of a car and how his cousin has a car, not the make mind but still...

Does Tubs tell the papers, specifically the Indo every little thing that happens to him. Who remembers him watching a couple going at it in the cinema a while back.
He is as bad as a reality tv star.

    You mean Easter, right?

Great OP Skid. I'm not sure, but I think I'm looking forward to this tonight.

Not the guest list obviously. That would be absurd. But the thread will be good.

I wonder will tonight actually be the night I get the answer to the questions that have occupied my brain for... ooooh... about three seconds every third year for about 35 years: who TF is Brush Shields anyway? Why is he famous on RTE from time to time?

The sooner drugs can be used in sports by anyone who wants to use them the better.

    Sonia's dress is lovely.

Must be rotten to compete knowing you can't win without the drugs! Pointless really

I dunno, the way things are going, I'm afraid of losing that egg and spoon gold medal I won in primary school, cos I certainly did not have my potato sellotaped to the spoon.

A BBC show is always going to attract more famous guests in fairness. Doesn't always mean there the most interesting though.

Yea you wont see Tubridy showing Smyth winning her gold, or Waterford Crystal snorting cocaine off the stable door.

"I'm not trying to dwell on the negative ...."

No Ryan, that's not something you could ever be accused of.

    "Why wouldnt you show it".

Well let me put it this way Ryan, would you show people your interview with Jonah Hill? Or ANY of interviews for that matter!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,195 ✭✭✭bottlebrush

She said she's moved on from it, no matter what way you ask it Ryan, she's saying she has moved on from it

Why is DLB focusing so much on this ? What next ? Her flop Olympics in 1996 ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

He's trying to portray her career as being blighted by not having an Olympic Gold.

It's very unfair to Sonia. She was a multiple World Champion and had an Olympic Silver.

Sure, she would like justice but he is overdoing his usual misery nonsense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭PeterTheEighth

You could get the Late Late editing team to edit it Sonia, they're dab hands at shoehorning bands and guests in to the "live" show to make us all think that 90% of the show is not pre record.

As long as he doesn't mention her other "runs"
