Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dog-friendly eateries & attractions in Clare?

    Hi Boardsies of the Western seaboard

    Yet another trip to the west coast, dog in tow. I've found Vandeleur Gardens as one possible outing, anyone know what it's like?

    Where else welcomes dogs in the Clare area? Some of the pubs on our last trip tolerated her but were evidently watching her every (well-behaved, quiet, friendly) move.

    South Galway ideas also welcomed!

    There is a cafe in lahinch that's dog friendly called Randaddy's. Haven't been there yet but facebook page says dogs get a free bowl of food and water.

    I figured that doggy people from everywhere including those who holiday in Clare would be members of this board.

    I'm often shocked at how very unwelcoming Irish hospitality businesses in general are to people with dogs. They just don't get it that people have kids with them from perhaps 18-50 but might have dogs in tow until the tourist is no longer able to tour. As such, we're at least a demographic worth exploring. Many of us aren't tied to seasonal limitations such as school holidays and we often overlap with other societal groups whose cash businesses are trying to attract.

    Ireland is fairly shocking for pet friendly stuff. Put it down to our agricultural background

    Oh, I know, and I put it down to our heritage to an extent. That doesn't mean we can't push for a little bit of progress. Sure pubs even have flush toilets in the west of Ireland this century! :)
