Hi everyone, we are delighted to announce that today we are placing a Public Access Defibrillator beside the entrance to Supervalu in Charlesland. We would like to thank the Charlesland Retail Management Company for allowing us to place the device on their premises. They also very kindly paid for the installation of the cabinet. We would also like to thank Simon Harris who was instrumental in getting the device placed there.

We would love to have everyone's help to keep an eye on the device and cabinet and make sure that it is not touched and is kept safe for a cardiac emergency. It could be any one of us who might need this device at any time and we do not want it to be interfered with, we are using our precious funds to place the Defib for the good of the community.

Our group is on call 24/7 and we respond to cardiac emergencies but if someone was to have a cardiac arrest, time is of the essence and the quicker the device is used, the better. Anyone can use a defibrillator, the machine tells you what to do as soon as you turn it on, it will NOT shock you if you do not need it, so do not worry about using it.
You could save someone's life !

So if everyone could spread the word that it is there and to keep it safe, that'd be fantastic !

    Thanks all !

That's fantastic news - good to know where these are located locally should they ever be needed.

Can I suggest to anyone reading this, learning CPR and using an AED (defib)is quite simple. Everyone should if they can, learn it by doing a course - I recommend it. But do watch this video on how the AED is used in a training exercise for someone who first arrives on scene and what happens when help arrives:

The defib should come with a shears and a razor. The shears to cut through clothing (particularly bras as underwire can shortcircuit them) and a razor to remove chest hair (or the pads wont stick..)

Yeah, a little kit will be included with the Defib with all that you need. Whenever we place a Defib we include them, thanks for your post !
