No specific day or date, just whenever HR get approval from the up aboves.
It's a good job I bought my boyfriend Dark Souls 3 yesterday. Looks like he's gonna be needing it.

as above, seemingly 5 weeks or so.

did not think they'd be going out this week so they cant be predicted to accurately.

If you don't mind me asking folks, when did you all do your medical? How long have you be waiting for "the call" and what do they actually say on the phone? Are you given a date for induction weekend or commencement of training?

    Apologies for 101 questions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 206 ✭✭Delilahbeau

I done mine 2nd week of March. SMT the same day, but results got delayed because of Easter Break. Iamveryhopeful is the same as I.

Both been waiting a month now.

So if the next set of calls are in another 5-6 weeks, I guess there is still a chance I might get one.
Bloody bell, this is all so stressful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 206 ✭✭Delilahbeau

    Very much so.
Seeing as we all thought they wouldn't go out till next week, i had a hope you'd be in this one.

It is very stressful aye, we're all on the same ship. You'll get there!

same as Delilahbeau. My medical was just over a month ago.

got my letter like two days later. but you hear nothing regarding the hair follicle test.

On the phone, you have to confirm if you address has changed, change of partner and they ask you if you are still interested in the role (I'd love to know how many say no at this stage)

you get induction day dates, a start date and she congratulates you.

    :)

Am i allowed to ask what the induction date and start date is for you guys? I'm just trying to gauge how much time they give you to up sticks and move your life lol with a job to leave and a house to sell etc

bank on a month/month and a half roughly between phone calls and start dates.

btw, that is based on numerous posts on here and doesn't necessarily reflect my own situation.

sorry for being so unspecific :(

    lol.

hard to hug and do other things at same time though (speaking on past experience). also its frowned upon.....

not if you are actually having to move then no it isn't a great deal of time.

its not so bad when you've just to hand in your notice though. most are ok with a month.

It's not a long time at all for someone like you, who has a life across the water and has a family to uproot.

What may be more realistic to you ( and what you're possibly not aware of) is that the first month of GV is residential (and also compulsory that you live there for the first month at least) ... If it came to the bit that you were accepted, you may have to leave your family in England for a while to sort out the selling of your current place and the buying of somewhere else.

Also, bare in mind you won't know where you are posted until you graduate (you only find out the day before or so).... So buying somewhere and then getting placed at the opposite side of the country is also possible

(I really hate being the barer of bad news)

    Lol 😂😂

The Mrs is from NI and her folks are still going strong so we would stay with them for as long as needed I guess, and probably try and sell the house from NI and rely on the estate agent as much as possible to sell the current place. Her folks don't actually know that yet though lol. They are unaware that my application was picked up again. Didn't want to get their hopes up, now that the little one has come along.

When you say residential for the first month, you mean monday-Friday I take it?

As Iamveryvague said nothing is set in stone. I would not think too much about planning until you get the call, I'm aware you need to plan a little. If you scour the forum here like demented ferret (referring to myself in the past) you gradually build up a better idea of the way things happen.

Also, there are probably some people in threads that are in your position. Id check the recent intakes and they will have some relevant experience I am sure.
