So currently looking to buy a new Clio or Polo, really can't decide which I want, both would be basic entry level models.

The Clio is 16,500 (bout 260 PM on PCP(2.9APR)) with plenty of extras :
    5 yrs guarantee
    5 yrs AA
    3 yrs step up
    3 yrs Paint protection
    Touch Screen Sat Nav
    Blue Tooth
    Alloys
    Automatic Lights & Wipers
    GFV 7,500k

The Polo is also about 16000 (bout 240 PM in PCP (1.9APR)) Not so many extras :
    3 yrs guarantee
    1 yr roadside
    Bluetooth
    Alloys
    GFV 6,800k

Any thoughts or recommendations? currently being pulled towards the Clio with better spec and much more accommodating sales man.

Have a look at the fiesta too. They're doing good deals on them now.

Clio looks nice on the outside but not so nice on the inside. Polo would have a nicer feel to it but is getting dated.

    Yaris?

Almost bought a 75bhp polo this year but eventually went for a 1.33 Yaris.

The polo is the better deal there I would think. The gfv is lower and it would probably be worth more 3 years from now. Personally though I would spec a tochscreen/bluetooth on it.

As usual I will recommend the Mazda 2 in that class. I think its the best of the bunch, not sure what the pcp is like on it though.

On paper the polo makes lots of sense, but you have to like the car as well. A base polo is pretty grim.

Can I ask what made you go for the 1.33 Yaris over the 1.0? I haven't ruled out a Polo, well, one of the better spec'd ones. I liked the one I sat in the showroom. Haven't checked out Clios, might take a look.

    Happy hunting, OP.

Ended up putting a deposit on the Clio this evening, got a good deal on the dynamique nav spec that clenched it. I found the Polo a bit bland tbh.

Ya no problem, wife had 2012 1.0 Yaris and before that a 1.0 09 Yaris. I have a 2nd car but it is old so for motorway trips we use the Yaris and the 1.0 is a bit slow and revs out quite high at 100kph plus

The 1.33 is 99bhp and 0-100 of around 11.5sec so its quite nippy. It also has a 6 speed gearbox and is far nicer to drive than the 1.0 especially on long journeys. €200 tax.

If you do mostly city/town driving then the 1.0 is fine. Very few 1.33 Yaris's out there 2nd hand. There is 1 still for sale in Boggans of Gorey (141WW reg) which I drove and liked but we couldn't do a deal against the 2012. Only 5k km on it.
Bought one from CKCT with 7k km on it and a good deal. The 2012 came from there as well.

Need anymore info let me know. Happy hunting.

Good choice OP, Polo is so dull be comparison. Previous gen Clio was a very reliable car too.
