Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Uninstalling spyware

I'll keep this short: I've got a spyware/adware problem which isn't in the list of installed programs, so I can't simply uninstall it.

It's having a horrendous effect on my laptop, which I need for work so it's costing me money too.

I don't want to pay some eejit €75 to do it in five seconds.

Any ideas? It's Spring Files or something, and yes I've Googled it but I don't understand the steps.

FYI, I did the whole regedit thing and tried to uninstall it from within the registry, but it's not listed in the 'uninstall' part either.

Have you ran Malwarebytes on your system?

spybot search and destroy is your only man, using it for years now!

Yep, have ran Malware bytes but didn't solve the problem. Will try Search and Destroy.

I've located the virus in Program Files by the way, but in the 'uninstall' option is a white page, a DAT file, which I can't read

Right, so I scanned SPRN folder and it's coming up clean on SPybot?

Will 'killing' the file on Program Files do the trick?

Revo Uninstaller can get deep into registry type stuff.

Have you downloaded the latest spybot scan updates? If so then that's very weird?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,685 ✭✭✭Darren 83

Have you ran the scans in safe mode?

Nope I'm 51% into a spybot scan. I've deleted everything entitled 'SPRN' in the registry, using search to find it, but it's still very sluggish and making a noise. But that could be the scan? Which has been going on about 90 minutes now.

What about removing all the factory spyware for windows 10? I believe its riddled as part of giving us the OS for free.
