Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    They picked their Euro squad 5 months ago? Wow, that was early. The media only reporting his omission today.

    I am aware of the age of the blackmail story. But don't think it was mentioned here, plus his omission today makes it pretty current.

    Don't think they picked their squad 5 months ago, but the date is on the top of the page in that story you linked.

    Maybe they decided that he wasn't going to be in the squad today, I don't know, but he was suspended from playing for France back in December I think. Maybe he was never going to be after trying to blackmail a fellow player?

    If the case is ongoing, that probably had a bearing on the squad selection.

    Yesterday they confirmed he wouldn't be going. I have to say that given what he did, I think that is the correct decision. Too many previous campaigns have seen teams (France a big one) dragged down by poisonous behaviour from big personalities within the squad.

    It is the right decision...but as Valbuena was omitted too it made Benzema's inclusion a possibility. There is the possibility that Benzema was caught in a bad situation and dug a bigger hole...but it does look pretty bad for him.

    If you have followed it there can be no doubt about Benzema's actions in this matter, he does not come out of it looking good to put it mildy.

    It is better I think, for the squad that both are omitted so there can be no possibility of distraction either way about it. France are the home nation, they are in with a very good shot in the tournament on paper, the less potential distractions the better.
