Insurance Scam/ Insurance Increase

Just looking for any advice anyone could offer. An elderly family friend who lives down the country currently has a claim against him, it was taken for an "accident" that never took place where the "injured party" claims he was rearended. When the emergency services arrived they couldn't see any sign of damage and his insurance company are currently dealing with it with suspicion. However his insurance is up in the near future and his premium is raising by over €2000 which simply isn't sustainable.

As the claim in ongoing he cannot change provider. Can anyone advise if the premium would change if the claim is denied? Are there any short term solutions to make it possible for him to continue driving?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Horrible situation to be in
Insurance loading will stick untill its cancelled im afraid.

Did he ring them and try work out a better price?

Has any witness been found and make sure he keeps at insurance cause they do find it easier to just pay out.

Had it happen years ago a woman oclaimed €750 damage and we never hit they wanted to pay out and were chasing me buti wouldn't let it go so in the end after fighting over a year she got nothing.

So you put pressure on the insurance company not to pay out and thus protect your premium?

It was at night so no witnesses but the other driver had a passenger in his car and has a history of unscrupulous acts such as this so concerned he will know how to put a squeeze on the insurance company.

If the case is dealt with would the loading be cancelled with immediate effect? The issue being that even if a whip around could help cover for a year the premium couldn't be paid ongoing, ie €10,000 over 4 years.

Spoke to a couple of people and doesn't seem to be too much we can do to help the situation.
