Feel free to move this to a more appropriate place mods, I wasn't sure where to put it.

So, as above. Anyone here work in a busy service department. Any ideas or simple tools ye use to make your day to day run smoother?

Getting job cards back, stop them being left everywhere. Getting mechanics to clock on and fill them up correctly.

What is your procedure for vor parts when they cum in, ie how do you keep an account of them when they are still on order to when they cum in.

How do your service dep, parts dep and mechanics communicate?

I was in parts for a good while and am taking the plunge into service now. Thanks in advance.

A big stick and a short temper.
Seriously though a note pad , write down everything your being asked to do and what ever you feel you need to do. It will stop the smaller things falling through the cracks. Do them in order and cross them off when finished.

No job card returned means you can't account for mechanics time or parts used. Once You Hand it to the Mechanic It's His responsability To return It. He doesn't get the next job until the last one is completed with times, parts used and recommendations on work needed.

T cards. Also Google calender is a gift if used properly.

Poorly. If you can get into a habit of emailing your parts requests, I know it seems a stupid thing but something will forget to be ordered at some point and you'll be told you never ordered it or you only priced it. Printable emails have been the saviour many times.

    Good luck. Customers are duchenozzels.
