A friend of mine wasn't using the oil in his house for few tears and was just burning coal. Now he's using oil again, his timer isn't working properly but he's wondering if it's because someone had moved the timer and maybe not put wires in properly. He opened it up and all wires are connected but he's wondering if it's possible they in wrong location or is he worrying about nothing. The oil burner fires up when switched to on location or when it's in one of the segments but when set to come on with timer, it won't move :( is it just a case of timer is broke and needs new one ?

Does the timer rotate in time.

From what you describe it sounds like the dial is not turning.

You can rotate it manually but doesn't turn on its own!

Looks like the timer is broken.

Obviously can't be definite without actually checking the connections as it is possible someone mixed up LN in with LN out

If all the segments were in the on position does the timer turn.

Yep, I can turn it when all in on or do you mean, put them all on the on and see if it turns itself

If the L in and out are mixed up, why does it still work.

Does it turn itself when the heat is on. This could indicate the live and switched live are mixed up.
