Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Celtic take on lower league Rangers today in their first match against each other in the Scottish Cup. Celtic are firm favourites despite their stuttering performances in the Premier league this season. Rangers have romped home to promotion after Hibs imploded in their challenge.

Irrespective of todays result, lower league football will be represented in the final as Hibs won the penalty shoot out against Dundee United yesterday

Celtic won 2-0 in the League Cup SF last year, I would be happy with that result today

Best of luck to both teams today, but enjoy it, cause on 21st May the winners getting spanked in final.

Won't be so cocky on Final, I just want enjoy moment

Should be a good game. Rangers under Warbuton have been playing good attacking football, and like Celtic are accustomed to being the dominant side, while also quiet open and vulnerable at the back.

Irrespective of where you stand on the new/old club debate, Newco are the same blood line and the same hostilities remain. While there's plenty of chat online about many Tims regarding this as just another game on the basis of this being a new Rangers, around Scotland, I've found the opposite to be the case; the Tims seem as up for it as they have been for any derby.

Here's hoping for an entertaining, ill tempered win for the Bhoys.

    Mon the Hoops!

Scottish Football needs the Old Firm.

It will be a different SPL next season.

    Celtic to win it.

Poor game so far from Celtic with many unforced errors

    This could be a goal-fest.

Boyata is an awful player, should've been booked before the goal & reacts to the Brown deflection slower than a 50 year old Miller.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,305 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

Boyata subbed, he has been useless

Not complaining but I have to agree. Amazed how flat they have been so far. Hope we can get a second before HT. Can't see them being this bad in the second half.

Is Kenny Miller the first player to score for 3 clubs in a derby?

What an embarrassing miss from Roberts - this is bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

    Possibly the worst ever miss.

Open goal. 8 yards out. Tap it in!

It's the norm for us this season, overrun in midfield & all over the place in defence.

    What a miss by Roberts!

He had time to bend down and head it in

Celtic have been woeful - outside of Tierney. Any Irish connection there?

EDIT: Has a cap for Scotland and born in the IoM so nope!

Rangers the better team so far

Celtic players are a yard or two off the pace of this game. Rangers buzzing around the place.

Really need to make this dominance pay though. Bossing things in the centre of the park. HT, happy with things so far.

What an inept first half performance from Celtic, imagine being outpassed, outplayed and outtackled by the team who are coming up to the Premier league. You would not guess that Celtic are just about to crowned league champions based on that performance

I would take 2 of Brown, Bitton, Lustig, Johansen and GMS off at HT - they have been dire

Edit - and Delia needs a taxi back to Norway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,985 ✭✭✭mikeym

Delia has 45 minutes to save his job.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,325 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Great first half from Rangers made us look like the Championship team. Their passing & composure on the ball has been excellent. Aside from Tierney none of the Celtic players seem interested.

Biton, Johansen & GMS have been anonymous, how GMS keeps getting picked is a mystery to me he's useless.

The Boyata sub leaves us short on options from the bench but Rogic or Armstrong should be on early 2nd half.

Much better from Celtic and a deserved equalizer considering the pressure.

Who's the co-commentator? Any connection to Rangers? Seems to be a bit of bias.

Really like Rangers' style of play. Keeping it on the ground and trying to play football as much as possible.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,046 ✭✭✭Berserker

Starting to get back into that game after that period of pressure. Anyone's game now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,325 ✭✭✭RoryMac

GMS is killing us with his poor touch and passing, need to get him off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Why do rangers have only 5 on the bench compared to celtics 7???

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,325 ✭✭✭RoryMac

WTF is Delia thinking bringing on McGregor when he has Commons & Rogic as options!?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Rangers with a lot of posession but little cutting edge.

Very flat this half in comparison with the first. Worried about the prospect of ET, being honest.
