  • Registered Users Posts: 45 lmcg1106

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭recruit099

  • Registered Users Posts: 45 lmcg1106

Yeah 5th as well, was in a blue hoodie. Lmao i might have to give them an e-mail myself, stressful stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭recruit099

Possibly I was in a suit cause I came from work haha! And yeah best to, last email from them was last week saying everything is passed but still waiting for result from my vetting.

Excellent news guys. But think the phonecalls have no structure now in a sense, as I think there where a few guys on 57.5 who said they got phone calls did they not in previous posts? Just mentioning that as sleepingbag mentioned they where in 58.5. All the same congrats and may the wait continue for the rest of us 😀

we're we not as low as 57 in last calls, must be taking completed people first and then higher scorers that have taken longer to process for some reason,so are we expecting proper calls end of jan?

Any lurkers on here been to induction before? Apart from the listed stuff on the letter, anything else youd recommend bringing or prepping for induction day?

  • Registered Users Posts: 464 ✭✭shanevendrell

Just don't be the guy who turns up with any of the following
    -No pens/padbook
    -No tie
-Without the documents listed to bring with you

Apart from that come with an open mind, ready to introduce yourself to others and be aware that everything about your conduct is being watched from the beginning to the end of the day.

My top tip? No hands in pockets - ever lol! Believe me you'll hear about it if someone sees you.

Any ideas on a list of things to start ordering that we'll need or would be handy to have when we start?

Go to the 'Starting at GV' thread.

  • Registered Users Posts: 180 ✭✭WittyName291

Most of that is to do with the residential part. Nothing more up to date on what might be needed more recently

Homer put a post on it not long ago. Read it. Think he mentioned printing paper etc.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,620 ✭✭✭Banterbus28

Printing paper wasn't for induction lol that was for week 1 day 1

Does anyone have a link for it? For some reason when I search it brings up a load of stuff irrelevant

Search "Garnerville" with the quotation marks

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭RedPool2891

Do you have to go to induction again, shanevendrell?

I'm looking forward to this, it'll be nice to put faces to names.

They want the listed exhausted as early as possible this month from what I’ve heard so might be some before that.

Some one literally said that Homer said to bring a block of paper to induction, he didn't say that, Homer said to bring a block of paper on day one...

Few top induction tips and starting in general.
    • As said already no hands in pockets. Looks untidy and if you're on duty not very safe.
    • Go to induction as if you're starting I.e. minimal make up, tidy hair. It's not a fashion show.
    • Bring a pen and small notepad; just makes sense.
    • The canteen is self service. Someone will make your food but they'll not clean up after you so clear those tables.
    • Most important of all; smile and talk to everyone you see. Lots of eye contact, you're police officers now.

Medical passed just waiting on SMT. You only hear back if you failed right? Anyone know how long it takes?

  • Registered Users Posts: 263 ✭✭RedPool2891

I think the SMT takes about a week or so.  If that length of time has passed, you're probably ok.  I called to check, just for my own peace of mind to know that everything was done and out of my hands.
