Planted some garlic cloves last November (broke up a shop-bought garlic bulb).

Leaves starting to brown/wither so pulled one today and low and behold, I have a spring onion! (That smells garlicky).

Did I pull it too early for the bulb to develop or am I wasting my time?

it's way too early for the bulb to develop, but that doesn't explain the withering; you have a photo of the leaves?

normal for some small browning of leaves but way too early to pull garlic...
