Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yep, me too. Seems like a really nice guy who is kind of tough on himself.

If he ever 'changes sides', I'll take him out on a date.

Well I would find it hard to take that spirtuality stuff seriously either. The lovely Robyn is a bit intense I think.

Yeah it was far too much like an interview. Just give the next fella a clipboard with questions before the date. And spirituality on the horoscopes side is an absolute bomb of a revelation on a first date if the other person isn't into it. And each to their own but hanging a pendant to a dead actor is just bizarre if you've no personal link them.

I'll give you the jedward sound alikes and the serial daters but I feel sad and then happy for all the people with awful backstories. Most people have them, few people reveal them.

But it's good to see people come back to socialising to see if love is out there for them where something dreadful has happened, and I'd say it's a massive thing for them. Even if some are a bit mad (aren't we all!)

This thread is crazily judgemental. And I guarantee if anyone here got judged in the same way they’re judging others there’d be tantrums. People are allowed to be themselves and don’t have to live for your approval.

Robyn is lovely. I wouldn’t be mad for horoscopes either but fair play to her, she’s found herself, seems happy with that and she’ll have no hassle finding someone who’ll see her as great.

Niko wouldn’t be my kind of people tbh but he just strikes me as a young person, a bit insecure and over-compensating. If it works, good for him, there’s no harm in him. But he seems like he’s got a lot going on that you can’t see so maybe he just puts on an outward show. Even if he’s just really confident, though, that’s a weird thing to slate someone for and smacks of jealousy.

Gemma and the rocker lad are exactly the kinda people I watch this show for. It’d be so easy to judge them both too soon, but they were fantastic craic, switched on, had lived a life and had stuff to say worth hearing. Give me the likes of them before younger, gorgeous people you’d see on Love Island any day.

What happened with the Asian girl and the lad who wanted to move to Portugal? It didn't say at the end

Yeah, that's odd, I can't remember them mentioning them? A mistake on the TV show's part?

The what-happened-after-bits are fairly crap in terms of giving details as to what happened though.

So you have a go at people judging the contestants and then proceed to judge them?

Not at all. I’m saying that people on Love Island are generally there reciting off a script (“I’m loyal” and so on) that they know works because it’s reality TV and they want to win. I’d much rather watch real people who’ve lived their lives and have stuff to say. Many more people watch Love Island than Irish First Dates though, so that’s my personal taste obviously, nothing more.
So you have a go at people judging the contestants and then proceed to judge them?

There’s a difference between judging and discussing. I’m not slobbering over 19-year olds, making cruel comments about the perfectly nice horoscope girl and being bitter towards a lad because he carries himself with a bit of confidence. If you say someone seems really sound, that’s an observation/compliment. If you say someone is cocky/crazy/whatever, that’s a judgement of their entire character. And if they haven’t even said or done anything particularly objectionable then it just comes across like you want to make mean comments about randomers.

Mr Whiskey let it all out there at the end! It sounds like he was holding his tongue for a while up to that

There obviously weren't too many second dates, it might say more about him than it did about his date partners. Surely at least a few of them warranted a second date. I nearly didn't get together with my partner of 20 years because he's American, we joke about it but what a loss that would have been!

I'm actually preferring this season to the previous few.
More down to earth people, less fakeness.

    So far anyway.

It was a bit. The loudness of it, more than anything. Still, it was a bit sad to see him so visibly chastened at the end there.

    Poor fucker.
