No that's his height, he's tiny, only 27cm tall but on tv he looks normal sized. The poster also stated he doesn't like the press which is where he was kept when growing up, Harry Potter movies terrify him. The surname is so long because it makes him feel bigger when he says it, his real name is Tom Tum.

He's only joining United because a racist Bavarian witch tried to cook him in a pie last season so he figured Manchester can't possibly be equally as racist.

If people are telling you you're funny they're lying

Hang on he's not a definite starter for Southampton but he's a definite starter for Liverpool? That can't be good.

Apparently him and Koeman didn't get on.

Have we ever won a league title without an Irishman in the squad? Genuine question by the way, it seems we always had at least one back in the day.

Wouldn't take any of today's squad bar Randolph or possibly Hendrick on a free transfer at an absolute stretch.

Randolph... he can't even get a sniff for West Ham...

    Plays all their cup games.

But I agree, not good enough for us.

As far as keepers are concerned, I'm fine with Karius number 1, and Mig number 2(2).

Stealing people's jokes is all the rage these days it seems. Posted a zinger in the England match thread last night only for someone to copy it into the humour thread.

This is happening too Mane times these days.

Robert Carlos talking aboy Roy Hodgson.

    http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11835/2221908/roberto-carlos-roy-forced-me-out-of-inter

Speaking exclusively to planetfootball.com, the Brazilian star stated that he has no problems on a personal level with Hodgson, but that he had little respect for his coaching methods.

"Hodgson's stay at Inter destroyed me," Roberto Carlos told planetfootball. "He played me in midfield and I had to consider that there was a chance that this would ruin my career in the national side.

"It's not that I did not have a good relationship with Hodgson. It is just that Hodgson doesn't know much about football.

"When Inter lost in the Uefa Cup final against Schalke in '96, it was purely because of Hodgson.

I don't think we're spending £30-36m on a squad player, remember Benteke's days are numbered.

Anyone else spot the glaring irony in this statement? Benteke cost similar money!

I was hoping for better "bang for buck" when lashing out £30m on a new striker, surely there is better than Mane out here?

I trust in the manager but will be really hoping Mane doesn't turn out to be Klopp's Carroll or Benteke.

Benteke wasn't bought to be a squad player - he was bought to be a guaranteed starter, he just turned out not to be good enough/poor fit.

He started just about every game he was fit for up until Klopp came in.

"He was the best we could get"

    ^^ Rodgers on Balotelli.

That's what was wrong with us, maybe there is still an element left in that upstairs, who knows. Just no clout or maybe people out of their depth.

All i do know is that im not arsed in the slightest how much we pay for players currently. Everyone agrees Klopp was a coup for us, he wants the player and clearly wants to do work with his new signings asap and make a well prepared 'burst' at next season.

Give him what he wants. If we were reading we were in for Mane the whole summer and fked around and never got the deal done in the end (what we have seemed to do for years now) it would unite everyone in a 'FFS' rant.

Im totally happy with how things are moving this summer so far. I couldnt really expect much more. I expect one or two more.

It will be progress if we dont see statements like the following anymore.

'Mario was the one right at the very end who was available’.

I understand and respect others opinion who may say or think he is an underwhelming signing for the money, he isnt top tier by any respect but i do think he is a fine player and a tier above a few names we see every week turn out for us. But our objective now is one of 'baby steps'. We have no European games next year. We played a lot of football last season and i would be disappointed next year if we didnt actually make the CL when we will be mostly fresh for weekends. And on that note, if we do make it, we can move on from there and not one fan would give the slightest thought to Mane's price.

None of that sense and logic allowed in here pal.

Agree with everything you said. People still expect a 30m player to be a superstar, but with inflation and the TV deal, 30m has definitely become the new 15m. We can't keep thinking of transfers in the same way we did 10 years ago. If you're paying for a game changing superstar now you can say goodbye to 50-55m +. All people need to do is look at Sterling ffs to see prices for players now are ridiculous.

We all know Mane is a good player. We know he's lightning quick and can score goals from wide positions. Instantly that benefits our starting 11. How many times have we needed a goal and watched as we play 3 players in the number 10 mold behind a striker, hopelessly passing the ball around with no real threat. Taking one of those 10's out and putting in a fast, direct runner will give us a new dimension. A runner for the number 10's to try pick out behind the defense.

If Klopp identified Mane as a player who will help us achieve our goals and be in the starting 11 regularly then 30m for him in comparison to todays transfers is about right.

I think you have the same understanding of irony as Alanis Morrisette.

Benteke was not bought as a squad player either but was a major signing for previous manager.

He hasn't been rated by Klopp and was reduced to a squad player.
I actually think Mane could be a big success for us.

The thing I like is that Klopp has been following Mane since 2012, so this isn't a "your name just came across my desk one morning"

I have a feeling he could be a great signing.

I was uninspired when we signed Mane, but if Klopp has been following him for 4 years that's good enough for me, after-all, he knows more about football than all the posters here.

If ya don't rate Mane then I don't rate your opinion.

Excellent signing. Pacey, powerful and very very direct. Really calm finisher too. Really excited about watching him play for us.

He will win a lot free kicks in very dangerous areas too. Hope we can take advantage.

Actually on this point, has he got any history of taking set pieces at Southampton?

We are severely lacking when it comes to set piece specialists so if that was in his locker, it'd be great. I don't have any recollection of him taking FKs or corners, though, it always seemed to Tadic and Ward Prowse when I watched.

We have lacked a player who will run at his man since Suarez and Sterling left, Mane will give us that. Pace panics defenders leading to fouls, free kicks and penalties. Excited to see him play for us.

Silly season and all that, but there's talks that Mourinho wants to offload Schneiderlin. I'd love if we could somehow get him. A midfield of him and Can would be perfect.

I'm not sure we have any former Southampton players to make him seem at home though. Even if we were looking to buy him (which we're not) I doubt they'd sell to us anyhow.

Was just saying the other day that I'd love Brady. Would be a great squad player, could fill in Left back, left mid and centre mid. And can actually take a corner.

However, I didn't think his stock had risen so high that £12m would be the fee. I would have had £10m or so as the upper limit and thought we could have maybe got him for £7-8m.

Anyway, if he goes to Leicester that's fantastic news from an Irish perspective at least. When was the last time we had an Irish regular playing in the Champions League? Robbie Keane and Duff probably?

Except Brady....I would say they are proabably equal in that department.
Brady is more suited to a wing back role.

Definitely something we are lacking in and sadly no, to my memory anyways Mané isnt a set piece specialist. With the talk of Brady, hed be on par with Moreno and again, suspect defensively. He is a good set piece taker though which would put him ahead of Moreno for me.

If we were to go for Rodriguez though....(the Swiss one) then that would be ideal. Id prefer him over Hector.

McCarthy doesn't dominate and control a game. He had the potential when he was at Wigan to do it. But has never stepped into the role.
I think he has the tools, but not the brain to do it. That is the most Dunphy thing I've ever written.
