Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

To be fair to the bee he was probably just wondering why Sturridge refused to pass to him.

Must be Hendo's prescription, the benefits of a "chronic permanent heel injury" eh? ;)

Was it an achilles tear that Benteke suffered before joining us?

Read recently, with regards to American Football anyway, that aside from the patella tendon, it has one of the worst recovery success rates. Any major ankle injury is actually now considered worse than an ACL tear, when looking at the recent data.

Could be great business if we do ship him on again for 30m, as there's a possibility that he won't actually hit his Villa form again, let alone improve from it.

Brad Smith is expected to join Bournemouth for £6m. #LFC can't agree a deal for Chilwell & are not interested in Jordan Amavi.(Dominic King)

That is excellent business for Brad Smith considering we released him, then resigned him and now get £6m for him.

The funny thing is, the Greeks knew that hundreds of years ago. Your man Achilles had awful heal trouble.

Yeah he ruptured his achilles. Benteke in 12/13 was a different player. More mobile & overall a much better player.
Apart from the odd purple patch he has been very poor since that injury. After his 2015 FA Cup performance it was madness we still bought him for 32m. Although we still may get that money back but maybe Palace are having a rethink & want a more mobile striker to suit there counter attacking style.

Yeah he missed a lot of the 1230bc the 1231bc season because of it. Great hair in fairness.

Think the squad looks like quite good overall. A huge amount of attacking options anyway. Going to be some good players on the bench a lot of weeks. The obvious hole in the squad is at LB and I think Klopp would like a deeper lying CM as well but not sure we're going to get one this Summer. We may wait and just go with what we have which is some combination of Can, Hendo, Milner and Wijnaldum. Still think we'll get in a LB of some description and that'll be it for incomings I think.

The fees we are getting for squad players are just crazy.

    Allen - £13M
    Smith - £6M
    Ibe - £15M
    Canos - £2.5M
    Skrtel - £6.5M

not to mention the other players we would be expecting to leave.

    Benteke - £30M?
    Balotelli - £10M?
    Alberto - £6M?
    Markovic - £8M?

Owners won't have to put a penny into the club this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

We will/should have the strongest subs bench in a decade this season which can only be a good thing.

That's unless it's the Physio's waiting room bench they are on.

I see us being left with 1 of Mario or Benteke up until the next window.
Benteke already turned down a move and I don't think anyone will take Mario.

Edit: One of the articles. References the actual study, but no link to it, unfortunately.

Never the same after the hair cut though much like Torres. Once again the ancients giving us their wisdom but we refuse to heed it.

Jetro Willems really wants to move to Liverpool by the looks of it or he is on a great troll.

Its a picture of him signing a contract for Liverpool.
Except its Wijnaldums body and his head photoshopped on. So basically a joke?

Ryan Kent, Jack Dunn and Lloyd Jones look like going out on loan for the season, a bit of a change of philosophy from Jurgen.

Sending players out on loan when we have it in the contract that the players have to play a certain % of games is a good way to get them the experience that is needed and the right way to use the loan system.

Good luck to Joe. I'd have liked him kept as a squad player, but he wanted more games which is fair enough. I still don't think he is good enough to be a regular starter for us though, so not too devastated.

I'm kinda sad that Joe is gone. Would have loved for him to stay. Maybe it was just me, but I never thought he got a fair crack of the whip. But it's onward we move, it's all about LFC at the end of the day.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,983 ✭✭✭✭NukaCola

Joe's a decent player, good on the ball, would be happy to keep around but no great loss really and can be replaced with similar money I would think.

Doesn't assist. Doesn't score. Too many injuries. Might be a fairly crude statement but he was never going to be the regular starter we need at CM. Decent backup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,022 ✭✭✭✭Iused2likebusts

Decent player and that's about it. Not good enough to be a regular starter so no problem with him gone.

I'm a tad more displeased tbh. I would have given him another season. Was good at the Euros.

I think we all knew his no loans comment would be contradicted by the reality of the games structure in England as compared to Germany. We may yet see a serious U23 level but not if the 72 clubs of the FL can help it.
