Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Very positive start to the summer window!

Not used to having a keeper wearing number 1!

Delighted with getting that signing in early. Goalkeeper is not a position you want to leave till August. Should be with the club for the full pre-season now

Welcome Loris! (We should call him Hugo)

Excellent news, 1/3 of the problem areas boxed off. Next up, a left back. Really hope jonas hector is who we go after.

The very fact goalkeeper was addressed so quickly says to me he hasn't much confidence in Mignolet and knows he needs an upgrade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,395 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Can't say I've seen much of Karius but he must have something about him to be voted the 2nd best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga after Neuer by their fellow pros. Mignolet will probably start the season in goal as Karius has the Olympics but I expect him to be number one before too long.

Hopefully that's the end of Mignolet's time at the club.

Livinginkorea is back in a job too perhaps ;)

He spent two years at Man City so reckon he is okay speaka-da-lingo wise. Nor will he moaning about the weather :pac:

The lad was at City for two seasons which could help him settle in quicker.

So nice to see us on the right end of a bargain for a change. £4.7m, pfffft, there's more in-jokes than pounds!

This is the cement bag we've been waiting for to knock Mignolet out of the team.

So you want to keep Bogdan as second choice?

I thought he was a hair stylist?

He did his 2 year apprenticeship in hair care in Manchester before bringing those skills back to Germany.

Id prefer both Bogdan and Mignolet to be rid of as soon as possible.

Mig is just about the perfect level for backup to be honest I think. The only reason i'd let him go is if that extended contract he signed was particularly high, but given that they were negotiating while he was in a rough patch, I imagine it's probably not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,930 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

At 28 there is no way Mignolet will want to be a number 2 so either he up's his game or he moves I believe.

BVB also interested in signing Zielinski..

Also, can't say I know a thing about Karius but have read nothing but good things.

Very pleased to see problem positions being tackled so quickly - if Matip, Grujic and Karius are as good as I'm told, that's a hell of a return for less than £10 million.

Ye but was he pictured with fans wearing one of there jerseys to prove he wants to move there.

The Echo says Dahoud is now Klopp's preferred target for midfield. So BVB being the new Spurs will be linked with him tomorrow.

Karius gets the Pravda treatment from LFCtv.

He certainly talks like he's a first team player.
Comes across well and has lovely hair that may worry Can.

Mig is fine as back up and id send ward on load, huddersfiled are apparently going to sign him for next season thanks to klopps pal managing them. Unless we get a dumb bid for mignolet I think thats what will happen, selling him either means signing another sexond choice keeper or not sending ward on loan.

    Definitely....

Interview girl "And are you looking forward to the experience of working with Simon Mignolet"

Karius "I'm looking forward to working every keeper and with the new goalkeeping team"

Diplomatically dodged the 'What can you learn from Simon Mignolet?' question.

    Skrtel Besiktas http://www.fanatik.com.tr/2016/05/21/besiktas-skrtel-ve-zapata-ile-prensip-anlasmasina-vardi-1234225
Coach Senol Gunes ' demands 2 centre-back, right-back, left-back and centre forward, it will be at least 5 to transfer management of the scout team to get in touch with the name began before the end of the season.

In this respect Liverpool Skrtel, makes External Transfer Agreement principle with Zapata from Milan Specialist Erdal Izuchukwu Denmark's Nordsjaelland linebackers Thomas player Emre for a tight Purple press.

Jaysus we could do a deal with them for a leftback and a centre forward to go along with Skrtel a 3 for 1 type deal.

Put Benteke, Skrtel and Moreno in that Besiktas team and they win the turkish league easily

Voted by his peers (the other Bundesliga stoppers) as the 2nd best keeper in the 2015/16 season behind that Neuer chappie.

Have you seen him play or does the fact he didn't cost £30m lead you to believe he is bang average?

Always exactly the same sacherine rubbish.

Can they really not come up with some other angle to take that might make it somewhat engaging? For a start, i think they shouldn't talk about Liverpool, or the move to Liverpool at all really, aside from an opening statement of "Loris, welcome to Liverpool".

From there, how about we just have the guy talk us through who he is, his career thus far, his best experiences in football, what he's interested in outside of football...stuff that he might actually get excited talking about, stuff that gives us an impression of who he is as a human being.

Instead we get "amazing fans, great stadium, huge club, great team, can't wait to win stuff blah blah blah." For most of them, you could transcribe what they say, and I wouldn't be able to pick which player it was.

Any reason for this. Or your just being your usual negative self & your only posting because we lost the EL final?

I think Matip and Lovren will start next season with Sakho suspended. Gomez is then third choice with Lucas as 4th choice cover. Also as Sakho is coming back after suspension another CB would push Gomez to fifth choice.

I don't see it happening. If anything it's Lucas staying as a utlity midfielder / cb or Ilori being kept for one more year for cover while Sakho is suspended.

Ilori can be sold in the January transfer window.

Lovren had his fair share of injuries and form problems, Gomez is totally untested as is Lucas. I think another CB is a cert as it seems Sakho could be out for a season minimum going on the new rules in.

Really think Karius' theme tune should be Hit me with Your Best Shot.

And a pox on those who dare contemplate a challenge on Emre Chansome status.

Nivea should be dropped, they've made us into a bit of a soft touch.
But st they same time they're stopping us from cracking under pressure.
    It's a sensitive balance.

    Goalkeeper not a problem.
Our problem is losing a goal = losing a game and the focus in on keeper as sometimes its a mistake from him.
We need to win games 1-3 when we concede and you would find no one would care if the goal we conceded was down to a keeper error.

I want 40 goals in league this year.
