Christ this thread has turned to **** again!

Let them get on with it.

I have really never understood the point of these types of posts! There isn't one is there??

£300 million is cheap then? (I dont have the time to look for the article right now where a year after the sale they wrote off a lot more of our debts)

FSG didnt sign Markovic the transfer committee did.

They decided that Markovic was a good investment and still could be. They also decided that Coutinho was a good investment!!

DO you think Leicester City will sign top names with Champions league this season??? NOT A CHANCE

Like us 2 years ago they are not established in the CL so will not attract the big names.

Im not getting your argument though. What do you expect us to do? Who should we be signing that we are clearly not forking out the cash for? I dont see any reports of actual people we are lining up but dont wanna pay the cash...................... Actually there is one and his name is Mane. You want Mane?? (I like him by the way but he isnt worth 40 million)

You seem to be completely ignoring the fact that the term cheap is relative. If something is worth 500 mill but you get it for 300 mill that is cheap. Just cos we can't afford it ourselves with our take home pay doesn't mean they paid over the odds. Will you please stop repeating it? Plus in a previous post of yours you refer to Sanchez as debatable as though we may not want him, I'm sorry but that is just crazy talk!

I'd prefer if he had the summer off tbh

I think he has to wait for a tendon to rupture naturally or something like that before his foot injury can be sorted. It's a waiting game I believe.

Thought that happened a few months back?

Yup, very well. Remarkably, he also managed to have a No. 1 hit with Phil Collins.

It was Can who rupture his achilles in the same game against Dortmund.

Henderson is still carrying his problem but is managing it with injections

There seem to be conflicting reports on this, but I believe it partially ruptured against Sunderland, and then fully ruptured against United and from there it was a case of seeing how it heeled. (yeah, i went there.)

I don't think Henderson/The club expected the reaction it got from fans and the media when it was announced that he would have to manage the injury for the remainder of his career, So they concocted the 'cure' story to pacify that. The only problem is that Henderson is obviously still injured.

If injuring an injury worked Sturridge would be the fittest player in the game, unless a third injury to the injury sets it back to being injured.

That doesn't not sound like it's not illogical. Standard triple negative rules.

Plantars fasciitis has a 75% chance at being cured with surgery and that for an average Joe Soap.

I wonder would it be different for pro athlete who runs a lot.

I have it in both heels for about 5 years now insoles work for me but if I don't wear them for a few days the pain returns it then takes a day or two for the pain to go after I start wearing the insoles again.

I really would love us to make a quick move for James Rodriguez, soon as Columbia are out of the Copa. Just watched last nights game against Paraguay...he really is a special player. Could be a terrific "Madrid graveyard" signing. Throw in a quick 35m bid and see what happens.

Oof! Coutinho just scored an absolute cracker against Haiti in the Copa America!

Classic Couts - from left of goal, comes inside onto his right and smashes it into the corner from distance. Serious power behind it though.

<edit> And a second..though this one was just a tap in. Ridiculous game really though, massive gulf in quality.

And your completely missing the point in which people seem to think that FSG havent taken cash out of their own pockets when it clearly cant be further from the truth.

Relativity is a great word. In fact maybe you should apply that to "our owners have cash"...................... compared to Man city's owners having cash or United Arsenal and Chelsea having cash.

The point I made is that FSG have spent more than recouped since buying the club. That is an undeniable absolute fact that is as clear as day is day.

All this crap about not putting their hands in their pockets.............. how the feck did they buy the club then? Oh is it by the money they would make from selling the club??? They dont have that money unless they sell the club!!

So if they spent their money on buying the club its fair to think they might not have at least that large sum of cash (300+ million) to spend on players for the club.

The club makes money yes but what is our profit margin (its readily available btw)? Our profits are minimal for now. That is why we havent spent more than we sold (we have bought approx 20-30 million a season since FSG).

Maybe the club actually cant afford it? Maybe the owners cant actually afford it?

What I do know is the owners are doing a great job off the field to ensure this club will become self reliant and that is very important.

Lets say FSG spend 1 Billion this summer and drive our wage bill up to 300 million a year. Then 12 months from now decide that they dont want to be at Liverpool anymore. Now we have 300 million a season to pay in wages and are at a loss of 1 Billion due to a huge loan we would have from our owners. FSG would certainly not get 1.3 Billion for the club (which would be the price they paid plus the loan) so they would make a loss. Leaving us in financial debt.

These figures are exaggerated yes but you change the figures to be more realistic and the exact same scenario could happen.

Fact is if we are self reliant we (like Arsenal or United) can afford to buy players without the owners (regardless of being sold or not) needing to dip into their pockets.

BTW Sanchez is a poor Suarez who is hot and cold. Besides its immaterial as he wanted to play in London

Awesome. It just occured to me that all the 'Coutinho to PSG' rumours and all that happened just as he was being put into the Brazil first team. PSG can **** off. Go on the Coutinho!

Coutinho hatrick! The first is really good but the third is a thing of beauty (despite Haiti being fairly ****e).

Re Henderson and his foot. All the talk of partial and full ruptures is horse manure. Very very VERY rarely is there a need for surgery in a case as 'fresh' as Hendersons. All it is in MOST cases is a right pain in the heel just before the arch on the inside of your foot but MOST cases ease with activity and just require careful management before they right themselves. You can do stuff to help fix them quicker but we're not allowed give medical advice on here. If you're interested in knowing more google "The Running Physio" and search for Plantar Fasciitis. Simon Bartold's two part article as well as the feature on new research from Rathleff will enlighten the armchair medics on here.

A what could have been career if it was not for injuries. Absolutely gutted for him, there was just something about Agger i loved, his cool persona and his playstyle I just loved. Hope his future works out for him whatever he does.

Shame to see Agger retire. Back in the day, the combination of Agger, Skrtel and Carragher gave us the best defence that this team has had in the last 25 years.

I wonder did Rodgers sense that perhaps mentally Agger wasn't cut out to play at the top level in his last season for us, and hence let him go?

I thought at the time it was due to Agger &/or the club reckoning he wasn't up to the rigours of PL football? Can't really remember the exact speel but I don't remember anything about him not being mentally cut out.

I do hope Agger goes on to enjoy his retirement and do something that he enjoys, must be tough for someone to have their career end a tad prematurely after being at the very top 4/5 years ago.

I bought €2 memory foam insoles in Dunnes and they made a big difference to my plantar problems, maybe I should suggest it to Henderson.

Really disagree with this. Agger could be caught out at times and Skrtel's weaknesses are well known.

We were better at defending when Hyppia was around.

    Hyppia says no

Agger was always injury prone. Skrtel always had mistakes in his locker and Carra was getting to the end of his reign and becoming slow. Think we scored a lot of own goals and became weak in set pieces when it was the three of them.

When it was Carra Hyypia and even Hyypia and Henchoz we where a lot better in defence.

Agger and Skrtel where always seen as a future great defence for us but never became that unfortunately.

Always had a soft spot for Agger. It's a shame his career with us didn't live up to the promising start

I'll never forget my second ever game at Anfield when he produced this screamer

Hyypia and Carragher were the two best in recent times imo.

Agger was good but was way too injury prone which was a shame.

The best defence we had in the last 25 years was in 08/09. People must have rose tinted glasses to think that any defence from the Houllier era could match what we had under Benitez.

    Arbeloa Carragher Agger/Skrtel Aurelio

That defence at the time was as solid as a rock.

Agger will be fine lads. He's been selling this in Denmark since he left us.

It's actually really good. He tried to get his own beer brewed before but Carlserg put a stop to it since he was still playing for Liverpool!!

Does anyone know if he still owns the restaurant in Liverpool?

He's also a trained tattoo artist.

Looks like he put good use to all his time off with injuries!!!! :pac:

Actually we conceded less in 05/06 with Hyypia

difference with Rafa's teams though the whole team was responsible for defending and not just the defence. We also played with 2 defensive mids.

As actual players our defence was better with Hyypia and Carra at center back

Skrtel and Agger wouldnt come close in a non Rafa team. In fact when Rafa left they turned into the worst defence we had in the last 25 years (injuries helped that cause to be fair)

Minutes per goal scored by Liverpools players, Sturridge best at 45 minutes and Benteke worst at 73.

Curious criteria - after all no one is expecting Kolo or Lucas or Can to score a goal. Whoever did that should have kept to the attacking players and likewise defenders/DMs for the goals conceded charts.

Watched the Brazil match last night, great hat trick by the Count with two of his goals coming from outside the box. Anyway during it the commentator said Kloppo was in the stands for the Argentina Chile match, most likely checking out Higuian (though I wouldn't say no to Ever Banega either)
