I don't know how to study, especially not for like 11 subjects. The junior cert is apparently in 6 weeks and im lost. On the mocks I got 2 d, 3 c's, 3 b's, and one a(cspe lol). I left the study for basically the week before and didn't really focus. I probably wouldn't have even passed , maths or science . They tell us to make a study time table but I can't understand how you can make a time table with 10 subjects and fit it into a time table within 6 weeks. Can someone explain this to me, or has someone got one they made for themselves that I can see.

You take a chapter / topic of a subject by step - not the whole subject in one night. Like if I study Indices in Maths one night, then I'll study Patterns and Sequences another night. At the back of each Revisewise book, there is a blank timetable in which you can fill in what you want to study in that subject (that the book is for) for a certain night. It's called STUDY PLAN and it works like this:

    - Date
    - Time
    - Section to be revised

How you study is important. The first thing you need to do is to NOT get distracted. Turn everything you find fun off such as TV, video game consoles, computers etc because in this case, they're your enemy! If you don't have good willpower as in you can't resist touching the stuff then get someone out of your family to hide them away from you until you're finished study.

Remember that studying is not all about just reading the books. In this day of age, there are literally endless methods of studying - however, only certain ones suit you (like flashcards doesn't work for me but might for you):

    - Reading from the book (probably the worst one, so I'd advise not to do)
    - Flashcards
    - Practicing exam questions (with the help of Studyclix in which you can make your own exams from)
    - Quizzes
    - Mind Maps
    - Whilst reading or studying, reward yourself with a treat after! (at least then you have something to look forward to)
    - Teach somebody else (this works 100% for me as the best method)

^ These are just many of the methods you can choose from.

Once you're done studying, why not meditate or take a deep breath? If you have a good sleep also you will remember a lot of the stuff that you studied easily!

You haven't even told me what the 11 subjects are yet?

Maybe just try to keep it simple - for example, if you have ten or eleven subjects, spend two hours each evening, 60 minutes on one and 60 minutes on the other. The next night, pick two more subjects, and do 60 minutes on each of them. If you do that each night for a week, you'll have done a solid bit of study on every subject by the end of the seven days.

Ask your teacher(s) to help you draw up a timetable if you prefer. They love it when their students show an interest so they won't mind (unless they're bad teachers).

It depends on the subject really. French vocabulary would easily take something like 10 / 15 mins (5 mins study, 5 min test / 10 min test).

For studying things like Science, you should join studyclix and make your own exam papers - and study the chapter / topic practicing past exam questions - always the best solution! Again though it depends on completion of these questions!

You pay an ANNUAL subscription of 25 euro and you get the following:

    ✓ All questions per topic
    ✓ All marking schemes
    ✓ Aural revision tool
✓ Print all questions on a topic
✓ Print your own past papers

Sometimes I can be lucky of knowing what the teachers put on my class tests - as they use studyclix to make them! Trust me it's worth it, I'm on it right now.

It's a lot more useful to make your own study timetable as only you know what areas you're struggling with. Study/do homework in the subjects you find most difficult first as otherwise they'll be even more of a chore when you get to them after an hour or two of work.

Ask your SPHE teacher or tutor for help. If you have an SPHE book, there will definitely be a study timetable outline for you to work from.
