Just moved into a new house & there is a really loud buzzing noise out of the meter even when no appliances are plugged in. Would an electrician be able to find the cause of this? I think the sound would drive me mad eventually.

If it's coming from the meter ring ESB immediately. It could be a loose connection in the meter. Have your MPRN to hand when you ring. It's at the top of your bill regardless of who you buy your electricity from. You can ring 24/7 and report it and if it's definitely coming from your meter you won't be charged for the call out

    You sure it's the meter
Sometimes the doorbell transformer hums or possibly a storage heater contactor. Turn off main switch and see does that stop it.
