Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    City lucky to be level

Two big saves from Hart. Madrid looking the more likeky to score even without Ronaldo and Benzema.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Thats some save from Hart but Pepe has to score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,373 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Actually seeing that back it was more a terrible shot from Pepe than a great save. Point blank right at his stomach.

I guess that's why Pepe is a CB!

Hart spread himself well but Pepe just smashed it at him in fairness.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Big game, Aguero has struggled.

City seriously missing toure and silva, de bruyne has been muck, worst ive seen him play.

    £50m.. can't even control a through ball.

Been invisible since he came on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,161 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

The 50million pound signing with a very poor touch which evapourated a great chance for himself.

Neither of these teams belongs in a Champions League final. Winner of Atleti v Bayern wins it for me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

That was incredibly cynical from carvajal

    A snore fest.

Very poor spectale, can't see past Madrid if Ronaldo plays in the return leg.

A top foul from Madrid's point of view. If he'd allowed him to go, he was in on goal with two city players getting into the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

Hart was the difference in the end.

2 good stops kept them in it. City had no end product despite playing ok upto the final 3rd.

    Dreadful game of football.

Dreadfully drab atmosphere for a champions league semi final.Felt more like a friendly match than one of the biggest games of the year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,191 ✭✭✭✭Shanotheslayer

Massive game. Both teams are not reknown for their defensive strengths. This is a game of one thing and one thing only, G.O.A.L.S. With KDB, Aguero, Ronaldo, Bale... How can it be anything else?? I will be watching this from behind the couch...

    Prediction. 0-0 draw.

    Spot on :pac:

    A couple of things.

Anybody that thinks Ronaldo is just an individual player needs to have a look at a couple of big games that he has played in this season because that Madrid team isn't nearly as dangerous looking without him.

City did well to hold onto a clean sheet and they are right in it for the second leg as an away goal is huge.

A fit Yaya Toure was sorely missed by City in that game. He hasn't look fit in his recent appearances and I think they need him fit for the second leg.

Joe Hart and Fernando had very good games imo and Sagna is still a class act.

Bale is still a horrendous diver, he should just give up on it.

Can someone explain why graeme souness's eyebrows are coloured in?

I enjoyed it anyway, stout defending from both sides, as much as Marcelo is disliked his ability is outstanding, have an inkling tomorrow's match will be far more niggly/cynical.

Missed most of the first half of this, but the second half was so bad I wish my commute home from work had taken an hour longer.
    Waste of an evening.

Ottamendi looks a different beast when he's paired with kompany. Thought he was excellent tonight.

Boring game but I enjoyed it.As Bad as people are saying about sterling he had the best chances for City, the run into the box when Kev over hit it and then the through ball he had a heavey touch with,he was on 15 mins.

Yes. Atletico Madrid are a particularly cynical side, will be rooting for Bayern because Atletico will ruin the final if they're in it.

Easy to pick the bitter fans posting in this thread. It's the first leg of a champions league semi, the last thing you want to do is go gung ho and be out of it before the second leg. I will say this though. Pellegrini could not resist going 4-4-2 when silva got injured and from that point on we were struggling. poor management.

No De bruyne went wide left were he is far less effective. if you can't win at home the next best scoreline is 0-0. here's another fine piece of management by pellers he has just announced Silva won't make the second leg, Such a gentleman letting your opponents know in good time.
