Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Solar panel trouble

    Hi,

We just heard a click and when we went to investigate, our solar panel pump is super hot and pressure gauge is reading 4.5bar, with return temp reading 50degC (supply temp gauge spun around so no idea what that says). Pump and system is rattling (gurgling?) away which wouldn't be the norm - any thoughts on what to do? (Plumber not answering phone at this hour funnily enough:rolleyes:)

    Thanks,
    A.

Power it off and call plumber tomorrow.

Thanks _brian - there's no risk of anything over pressurising if we do power it off is there (do you think based on the incredibly limited knowledge you have of my system).

    (Clearly no plumbing brain here)

The system should be designed with an expansion vessel etc., enabling it to survive a power cut. If the gurgling and noise was happening at ten o'clock at night, it has to be caused by the pump, and not by heat generated at the solar panel. Should be OK. I assume there is nothing strange happening when you run the hot water tap?

thanks for reply, no, nothing strange at taps - we did turn off power to it tonight and will endeavour to chase down plumber this morning (always a challenge in our case!!).
