Be on the lookout for a door to door scammer (thief!). She claims to live in the area and says she's collecting for a sponsored walk in aid of Down Syndrome. She asks how many kids live in the house and says she'll drop in goody bags for them. She seems to have targeted Dublin 15 recently. Medium height, dark hair, very confident and friendly.

    Barnardos Issues Bogus Fundraisers Alert
27 April 2016 – It has been brought to the attention of Barnardos children’s charity that a small number of bogus fundraisers have been operating in various locations in Dublin and Meath, specifically the areas of Ashbourne, Bettystown, Clonsilla, Hartstown and Swords. The people concerned have been collecting cash door to door in residential areas claiming they are fundraising on behalf of Barnardos.
If a member of the public is unsure whether a door-to-door fundraiser is legitimate, they should they ask to see their ID and contact Barnardos on 1800 911 100.
Barnardos asks anyone who notices suspicious fundraising activity to report it to their local Gardaí and to the charity.
A legitimate Barnardos door-to-door direct debit fundraiser will:
    · Always have photo ID on display, with the registered charity number and a telephone number (1800 911 100) you can call to check the fundraiser is legitimate.
    · Always wear a green or white Barnardos t-shirt.
    · Never ask for cash at the door.
    · Always carry an iPad to securely enter direct debit details.
    · Never call at your house after 8pm or at the weekend.
A legitimate Barnardos fundraiser collecting sponsorship will:
Always have a letter of authentication from Barnardos.
Always have a branded sponsorship card with a telephone number (1800 911 100) you can call to check the fundraiser is legitimate.
Always wear a green Barnardos t shirt.
Barnardos appreciates the incredible commitment and support of the thousands of genuine fundraisers around the country who raise money to support the charity’s work with vulnerable children and families in Ireland.

Barnardos said that they had reports she was still out collecting last night, so please share the warning as she's still active.

A genuine caller from a charity will have no problem you checking their ID, if everyone did this the scammers would eventually go away. Not easy sometimes asking someone for ID particularly those who have a confident manner about them.

I think that's what's catching everyone out, the fact that she claims to be a neighbour or from very nearby and you feel awkward for not knowing who she is. She is friendly, bubbly, very confident, not at all like the 'chuggers' who show up at your door.

Just heard that she was in Tyrellstown last night.
