    Hi,

Just wondering has anyone been in this situation.... put an offer on a house in September, the seller is in negative equity and we are still waiting for his bank to release the deeds so the contracts can be drawn up... got solicitor to send a letter about two weeks ago stressing that if they are not released soon we will have to pull out.. it has been 7 months! Is this normal? any advice? The auctioneer keeps saying it is normal and just be patient but it seems like a crazy amount of time to be waiting!

7 months sounds like an extra-ordinarily long time IMO.

The OH sold her house in 2014, was in negative equity so lots more hoops to jump through. It took around 3-4 months for everything to be completed.

Sending the solicitors letter was the right move, but make sure you set a date for completion. Send another letter if needs be.

If they don't complete before the date, stick to your guns and pull out.

Thanks for the advice, it does seem to be dragging on! The estate agent keeps assuring me that he has given all necessary paperwork regarding value etc.to the bank and he doesn't know what the hold up is... its just so frustrating before the offer the house had been on the market for over two years with no interest, (according to the estate agent) and apparently the sellers bank have been pressuring him to sell off his assets... so I just don't know.....to top it off there are tenants in the house at the moment so once everything is signed etc. they still have almost two months before they have to vacate!!! Starting to feel like it will never happen :-(
