Wind Turbines on boats

    Hiya,

    I'm no sailor but was wondering about the wind turbines that I see on boats.
    Where can you get them? Are they ever sold second hand & if so, is there a website that they can be purchased from? Even a broken one that I could repair?

    I am looking for a similar turbine to power a man shed that is too far to bring the national grid to.

    I suspect you'd have to order them online from the UK.

    eg

    But if you're looking to power a shed, solar would be more reliable. Plenty of wind on yachts, land locations not as reliable a source.

    Might be cheeper too use a car alternator and put some blades on it.

    The man shed that I have built is on the shore of the Atlantic at the bottom of my land. Very very isolated but plenty of wind !!

    It is to power a radio & a reading light.

    That would certainly would be a cheaper option. And it would be fun to build.

    LED lights and a radio would take very little power even a bicycle dynamo should power it.

    Yup Cheapest option would be a small car alternator with rotor from a bike wheel.. charge up a forklift battery (if you can get it ), power a 12 volt light,and car stereo...
