Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Liverpool will look to keep it tight tonight, Sturridge is a hindrance in that regard, I'm sure he'll be on at some point though.

Our midfield doing very well. Winning the battle and working possession nicely. No cutting edge on show at this stage however...

Milner wearing his non crossing boots!!

There's an away goal here. But we'll have to wait on Sturridge comes on.

Joe Allen playing well. Lallana poor.

    Playing ok. Missing Origi imo.

Sturridge or Benteke needed second half to test the resolve of the villa real defence. Sturridge preferably obviously... as things stand need coutinho or firmino to make something out of nothing, which is likely to be fair too them.

Sturridge on in the second 45 i reckon.

Do you think so? I've found more of our high quality passing moves happen with Firmino or Origi up there.

Sturridge has moments of magic in those tight passing moves, but the other two hustle back more to actually start those moves ever happening.

Would certainly like him on against tired legs though.

I do think so, which is why I posted it :)

    In Spain? Shirley not.

Firminho is getting through a ton of work thus far. He's providing an outlet and linking play well. Also pressing hard.

Relax on the 'Sturridge for 45' stuff

Changes with a half hour is plenty

Moreno gets so much stick for his final ball but Clyne is just as bad if not worse with his.

We were so lucky when we had Steve Finnan. Nights like this, you'd see Finnan on the ball and it would just seem everything will be ok. One of the best right backs we've ever had imo.

Good block from Moreno, theyre getting a lot of chances on that side though

    Great block

Decent European away performance so far...no cutting edge up front though, will be relying on a 35 yard thunderbastard flying in unless we throw Sturridge or Benteke on.

Shaktar gone 2-1 up in the other game

Have to say. Loving the work rate

Villareal keeping 6 men back at all times. Not gonna let us hit them on the counter and hoping to draw us out so they can get in behind. I'd take the 0-0 now.

Not working with no one up top. Unless Klopp wants a 0-0

    Coutinhos shooting boots at home.

Need to see more going forward from the front 3 especially Lallana and Coutinho

Amazing how most of these Liverpool players were bang average six months ago have stepped it up and improved under a good coach.

0-0 is a good result. Win at home.

I think we're doing fine. We have players who can produce a bit of magic and neither team looks too threatening. Happy so far tbh.

    Coutinhos shooting boots at home.

Usually needs about 15 shots before he does the magic

Maybe he wants a nil nil by the 70th minute and then Sturridge time.

    Shaktar 2-1 Sevilla so far

I think there's an away goal there for the taking if we were more positive.

He could set up 2 Villareal goals in that time.

Jesus Hargreaves is annoying... its like they think Villareal are some minnows. This has been a very good performance so far from Pool imo.

    Kolo is worth a payrise/

It's working fine. We've forced period of possession in their half and a couple of half chances. It's a European semi against a ****ing good side. You have to work it, grind it out.

As an aside, I'd forgotten how ****ing nerve racking these things are :(

So far so good. Happy with that first half.

    Decent, but not amazing half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Really strong half from Liverpool were people really expecting Villarreal to be easy to break down?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,791 ✭✭✭✭Charlie19

    Kolo is worth a payrise/

I'm not sure about the rise but I'd definitely keep him on.

Good first half, controlling the ball a lot more than I expected. Sloppy passing and no cutting edge in the final third though.
    Game looks winnable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,775 ✭✭✭✭Slattsy

These lads have nothing about them at all. A bit more pressure on their defense second half and there's a goal there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,053 ✭✭✭SuperTortoise

Good half from Kolo, an away goal would sit well with me and i think we should push for one.

He keeps banging on about Firmino not playing like a No 10. Well doh, he is part of the hoovering up. At some point Benteke will be unleashed on them :o

Think we can say the advantages Sakho gained through PED's was negligible. Been immense in that half, although carrying a little weight.

If he gets the pay rise then he won't need to deal the wifes "fat burners" on the side.

Do people really think Firmino nicking the ball off the opposition once or twice a half makes up for all the other ****e he does? Genuinely curious.
