As in on heavy discharge days similar to what some others have been describing. I guess I'll switch to pantyliners. I hate pads but maybe liners are less annoying!

It's the risk of toxic shock syndrome I would be concerned about tbh.

The instructions explicitly state they should be removed as soon as your period ends and not worn in anticipation of a period even.

It's an uncommon illness but can have disastrous outcomes.

Tampons always scared the bajaysus out of me with this toxic shock and for what they are.. Try the liners Roselm I would think (only had twice experiences with tampons) but they are the lesser of two evils

Normally it's only period +/- around 2-3 days just in case of spotting, but I ended up having to wear them all the time while I was pregnant. I hate pads at the best of times so that was a bit annoying!

No, never worn one. They just remind me of pads which I hate hate hate.

I'm on treatment for endometeriosis now that has totally stopped my cycles so now I don't :D Life changer.

Before I'd wear them the day or so coming up to my period so I'd have a minute to get somewhere and sort myself out if I was caught out and then I'd wear them at the end of my period for the lighest day until there was nothing.

If I was afraid I'd be in trouble with a tampon not being 100% secure I'd also wear one.

I also use them for breakthrough bleeding when switching between pill, depo provera and my current treatment.

This is definitely a TMI but could help someone - the main thing I actually used them for was at nighttime when I'd wear a pad, even the longer nighttime ones I'd get like 3 or so pantyliners and stick them to the back of my underwear so the entire back of it was covered in pantyliners basically like a nappy so when I was asleep if anything came back further than the pad I'd be alright. I also had to sleep with a towel under me the heaviest days. Absolute nightmare, I really feel for anyone who has to deal with periods that heavy. That plus the pain of endo as well sometimes meant I couldn't even wear a tampon and if I did I'd have to get up midway during the night and change it. :(

Same, suddenly needed them while pregnant, and the maternity pads after...ugh. I was too tender to use my mooncup for my first post-baby period, just reinforced how much I hated pads! It's so handy that you can use it in anticipation of your period too, unlike tampons.

I never wear them - i just change my underwear if needed. I use a mooncup for any spotting/for my period.

Mooncup is a game changer alright. I'd use liners for a day or so before a period, I'm generally spot on about the ETA though and have the mooncup sorted. Luckily, once it's over, it's completely over, so I don't have to take precautions at the end of it.

I have to say this thread and others like it are always an eye opener about what so many women go through on a monthly basis. And this is only about the practical aspects of it. It's a wonder we don't throw menopause parties to celebrate when we're finally set free from it all.

The mooncup is amazing. I wish more people knew about it and were willing to try it.

    Agreed, sounds absolutely awful Victoria.

I have PMDD which is like PMS on steroids. From mid-cycle on was hell on earth with cramping, nausea, vomiting and then a really heavy period for over a week. I got the mirena in after having my second child and it has helped I have to say. Not without some side effects but I can deal with them. I very seriously considered a hysterectomy though it has been that bad.

Also, no periods since the mirena, woohoo!

I'm on the pill ATM so it's all dead as the dodo down there, but before I would get quite 'wet' when ovulating. I'm just one of those women for whom it's very obvious. Handy to know as well though.

I wear thin panty liners every single day and have done for years. Always put them onto clean underwear too. Sometimes I even change them during the day for a fresher feeling. I find that it feels nicer, drier and all round better. I do (and have always had) have quite a bit of discharge so maybe that's the reason. It's easier to have spare liners in your handbag than several pairs of knickers.

I genuinely wonder how some women manage to cope normally and go to work etc.
