Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Meh it's the Scholes tackling thing again. I'm yet to see anyone hurt by these constant elbows Fellaini is hitting them with. You'd think if there was the huge force that people make out in them people would have the bloody mouths, broken jaws and teeth that would come with actual elbows to the head?

Good call referee. Lingard was weak there

On another day he would have done better, so hot and cold for us

United are playing very well. It's some of the nicest football we've seen in some time.

Trying to justify Fel's behaviour by attributing it to faux outrage or other supporters is incredibly lazy.

What Huth did was bad, but nothing should justify throwing elbows like that. One can cause significantly more damage than the other. Hair pulling and elbowing someone full force in the face are not comparable, and it was a horrible thing to do.

    This, pretty much.

Focusing on the hair pull to justify an elbow is pathetic in the extreme. There's no outrage. It's just thuggery.

If Lingard had been a bit stronger Simpson would have been forced to foul him and it would have been red.

Rooney is silly to be playing those long passes unless he is 100% certain.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Rooney is not up to it in central midfield at this level.

Can we get back to the football and less of the outrage at people being outraged.

Nope no peno ran into rojo rather than the leg

  • So why the **** doesn't he get carded for diving

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,501 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Mahrez was playing for the peno there, not a fan of that carry on.

    Stonewall penalty.

    "Thuggery" lol.

If you try to be a sneaky shíte by pulling someone's hair and take an elbow for it, no harm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

We should be man down and that was penalty although he went down too easy

It's pure faux outrage and it's embarrassing. Somebody grabs your hair you're going to do what you can to get out of that situation.

It's particularly embrassing as Fellaini was defending himself and trying to get himself free. But that doesn't fit in with your agenda here.

Self defence against a few lost hairs at worst? Come on man, it was a blatant overreaction to a bit of dirty play. There's no way a hair pull ranks anywhere near as high as an elbow to the head.

What way was he supposed to react, pull his hair back? What would you have done?

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,609 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

    Should've been a penalty there

Ronney has been really poor so far today. The opposite of the last game whe he probably had his best game of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,948 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

I don't really know where Rojo could go there to get out of the way. Mahrez ran right in to him.

Rojo is pathetic at set pieces. Again he loses Morgan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,561 ✭✭✭✭CSF

    Definite penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,501 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

I must be the only non-United fan who doesn't think that was a spot kick. He ran straight into Rojo in fairness, and away from the ball.

Probably a pen, last replay showed Rojo kicked him a little. Having a terrible game Rojo

    This in absolutely excellent game

Wow that slowmo replay. 100% penalty. Didn't think so at first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,371 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Rojo should have dived out of Mahrez's way there will be the narrative no doubt.

    Hilarious.

    What's hilarious?

Ball went past he stook his leg out and caught him.

Clearly wasn't a dive. It's not completely binary, can easily be not a peno and not a dive. Was Lingard falling over beside Simpson a dive? Of course not.

What? I'm pretty sure it's this mentality from LVG that has led to the dire football we've seen from United recently.

    Rojo has been awful

What way was he supposed to react, pull his hair back? What would you have done?

In the context of a football match (not just a random meeting on the street), push him away. Tell him to **** off, tell the ref if you want and get on with it.

There is no justification for elbowing someone in the face. That sort of attack can seriously injure people. Pulling hair is childish and dirty, but not dangerous.

I would get if people were using the "but he is our dirty player..." Argue, net, but trying to put hair pulling and elbowing someone in the face twice is crazy, and showing off some incredible rose tinted glasses.

Thought it was just a collision in real time but Rojo has a fresh air kick with his left leg. Could have been given. Would need another look at it though.

You're the only one who's outraged. Everyone else is just commenting on Fellaini's elbow to Huth's head and his second attempted elbow.

Now watch, at half time it will also be mentioned because it's an incident that happened in this football match.

Very tense atmosphere around the stadium. This is going to be a massive 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭duffman13

Forget the peno appeal, Rojo has been absolutely awful, put about 8 crosses in that have gone nowhere, left Morgan free twice in the box and struggles to make basic passes. He's very poor today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,681 ✭✭✭JustTheOne

    Nowhere Rojo could have gone.

Em that's grand and all but it doesn't explain his left leg connecting with the player when the ball had gone past him.
