OK so I have just started on the Back to Enterprise Allowance and part of that is a grant I can get of up to 1K to buy a PC.

The problem is it needs to be bought from an Irish Business and they need to be able to take part in the scheme.

    The scheme works like this

I get 2 quotes and choose which one I want to go with, I pay 20% of the cost of the machine and get a receipt and present it to the social and they then pay the retailer the other 80% direct.

The machine will be used for Prem Pro so needs fairly high specs

Any Help folks would be great

If it has to be Irish then buy something off the shelf:

Thanks for that, the problem of buying off the shelf is cost and customising.

Finding it hard to get an I7 with a decent graphics card that is within budget (about 1200)

Not sure if there is any reputable Irish based businesses that will do custom and not of the shelf, or at least without a huge mark up (100%). Can you buy parts with the grant or does it have to be pre-built?

Dell have a 6th gen i7 box for just under 800. No dedicated graphics, but I understand this is only used for certain tools in the editing suite. If really required you could get something later once you are earning

Could you buy a dell like Lu says and add a GPU yourself? Something small like a 750/Ti would do the hack for photo editing and probably basic video, they're not expensive

while its waste to buy desktops from currys or pc world,if your budget would be around 1500 you could get more then decent gaming laptop which wouldn't be much of a rip off and last good few years.

That said, any chance you have considered getting server instead - types of HP proliant http://www8.hp.com/ie/en/products/proliant-servers/product-detail.html?oid=1008686780#!tab=specs is starts around 300+ but you can stuff extra memory, storage thus not much in space of vga but if going business route with a bit of DYI you could save some cash long term if running server, using as backup, some Linux or win vm emulation on more then one desktop.

    These seem good.

Just to add I didn't really look on the website too much but if you go with them you should buy a graphics card yourself as it will work out far cheaper than buying from them. It also just slots in so very easy to install.

    These seem good.

    His pricing is mental, €479 for a 970 and €750 for a 980

Also, if you check the i7 PCs and leave everything the same but with a GTX 950, there's almost €300 between the cheapest and dearest. For exactly the same PC bar case.

If you're using that site I'd definitely shop around on it OP

I'd get along to your local computer shop and tell them not to take the piss. Most of the owners of those shops browse boards.

I used these guys a few months ago when I needed a SATA cable in a hurry. Nice guys, knowledgeable and seemed to get good reviews online. Worth giving them a bell to see what they can do.

Now that you say it, +1. Was in a bind for something one Friday evening and they sorted me out. Wouldnt be a bad avenue to explore.
