Very interesting to see at least 2 others are having the same issue. Was anyone able to successfully use the red button service?

Can you tell us what tv and/or set top box you have?

A key issue for me is that when I did a rescan of the saorview channels there was no red button channel appearing. Thus even though the red button appeared to be working it had no channel to go to and the blank screen with the return arrow in the top right corner comes up.

So where does the fault lie?

Btw my telly is also HD Ready

the tvs I tested on were
    Philips 32pfl5405h not saorview approved
    Sony 40w705b saorview approved

both provided the red button option

Does anyone know when the BBC red button channels will become active for the Euros?

What about ITV? I presume they will show some matches on ITV4 which isn't in HD

According to Ljs live on sat a red button feed should of been up tonight for the David gueta gig at the Eiffel Tower at 9 for a euro 16 concert but I can't find it

As far as I can see the schedules, all matches on ITV will be on ITV1.

Matchday 3 simultaneous kick offs will be on ITV4 (except in group B which gets a bit complicated)

Sorry forgot about final set of matches in group stages. Obviously where matches KO at the same time ITV will use their sister channel.

The current Red Button channel feed can be tuned in as a separate channel on 10773 H 22000 5/6 QPSK named BBC RB1.

During special events such as the Olympics they add several more temporary feeds. Rumour has it they will be on
    12422 H 23000 2/3 DVB-S2 8PSK

    labelled
    6802 For BBC RB 2
    6803 For BBC RB 3
    6804 For BBC RB 4
    6805 For BBC RB 5
    6806 For BBC RB 6
    6811 For BBC RB HD

(info thanks to jimbo on DS. I haven't confirmed these details myself.)

I have tried these but they are not working.
The one at the too is bringing up itv channels.

    From KoS :-
    TP1 the existing BBCs
    TP2 is the extras

Funny Gerry I tried my Amiko mini in another room and it has the BBC red button channel. It also brings up a huge amount of other channels (mostly pay).

If you are scanning the two TPs shown above, the first carries several BBC regions, the second is purely the BBC Red Button extras. If you are getting ITVs and pay channels you are doing something wrong.

Have a look here at the 8th video down "How To Manually Tune in a Satellite Channel"

    Gerry

What does the antenna need to be set to. I get a choice of numbers to choose from.

I normally just go into Transponder and enter Frequency Polarity and 22/2300 etc and then scan and it brings up the channel.

It's nothing to do with antennas. The satellite should be 28E (might show as 28.2E or 28.5E). Watch the video carefully.

I know Gerry how to add a satellite channel manually as I have done it a good few times before.

But for the transponders you gave above they don't work on my Triax for some reason.

That's why I was wondering if the antenna setting needed to be changed.

    EDIT
I tried this again for the red button channels. It didn't bring up anything when I did the scan. Saying 'no input program'. The signal on it is 48% but the quality is 0%. I have the same signal strength for other satellite channels which I am getting fine.
Is it anything to do with Freesat branded boxes? In that only those type can get tge red button channels?

Nothing. The Freesat box just maps the channels to a red button that you can press when on one of the BBC's channels. The Channels are still broadcast in the open. When you scan them, they appear in your channel list as 6802, etc. So they will be at the top of your channel list if it is sorted alphabetically.

From what you have described your satellite dish needs to be tweaked. You are manually scanning for a dvb-s channel (rather than a dvb-s2 channel at that frequency ?) There is a difference!

    Can you explain further please?

(I do think my satellite signal at 48% is probably marginal in picking up a decent signal.)

I looked at my box and there is only option for dvb-s.

Which ? The difference between dvb-s and dvb-s2 or how to tweak a satellite dish?

You have a Triax box. I am not familiar with the Triax menu but when you are manually scanning a frequency (like for the red Button one) if there is a choice between picking dvb-s and dvb-s2 you need to pick dvb-s in this case and entering the other parameters in order for the box to know what to scan. Likewise if you do not have the option to manually enter the exact parameters you may need to "add a TP" but make sure the system you are scanning is dvb-s rather than dvb-s2 if the manual scan makes such a distinction - it should. And then scan.

Tweaking the satellite dish means optimising the signal by adjusting a few things on your dish. What type dish is it and is it accessible.

By the way many set top box meter readings are notoriously crap/undependable.

The above works. I couldn't get it before because what Gerry previously posted had the wrong signal rate. It is 27500 not 23000.
Thanks Gerry for posting the KingofSat link.

As I mentioned, that was speculation on another forum at that time that I hadn't confirmed myself. The dangers of breaking news :o
