I don't know anything about building, extending, construction etc, so I am aware that this question is probably the same as how long is a piece of string, but if anyone could help me with very rough estimates I would be grateful.

If I had an old 2 up 2 down on a small piece of land in Dublin, is it realistic to think I could extend, doubling the size, and also do any work needed on the old part for less than 100k?
I'm clueless at this, but no point in looking at the house if I can't afford to do it up.

Very unlikely. You might do a small ground floor extension and renovation for the 100k.

Large two storey extension doubling size of house. Plus do up existing. No chance.
