Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Liverpool v Villarreal

This tie is finely balanced. No away goal from the first leg is always a worry for the home side in the second leg but then again Villareal are not the heaviest of scorers by any stretch and may be happy to park the bus and hope for a break.

It's a really tough one to call, I'll go for a home win on the night, whether it's enough to take them through I don't know.

Home win on the night for sure IMO. But that may not be enough to go through. It'll be tight, the Liverpool starting lineup alone will be interesting to see. Have a feeling he won't start Sturridge.

Think Liverpool will need four to progress - just hoping for a good performance. If Sturridge doesn't start expect a lot of controversy and second guessing to go on.

    One time dealer, etc.

Once again, I hope we win. I think winning would be the best outcome here.

Negativity from first leg may cost us dearly as I can see these getting a goal from somewhere.

1-1 or possibly a 2-1 to Liverpool on the night :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,098 ✭✭✭MonkeyTennis

    sort yourselves out lads..tsk :)

    I'm still worried.

We need to score at least 2 i think. I wasnt particularly impressed with villa last week so it is very doable .
    2-0 to pool

    I'm still worried.

It's massively nerve racking, last week's game was hugely unenjoyable. Had forgotten how awful these ties are

A lot of journalists and ex players coming out stating he has to start. Sooner he's gone the better so Klopp doesn't have that distraction.

Yeah it's just a hindrance. And as it happens, I feel that Beneteke may be the better option for this game anyway considering what Villareal were offering us defensively last week

I can see Villarreal getting a goal, so it's going to have to be another great Anfield performance by Liverpool if they are to make the final.

Sturridge has to start no question in my mind. No away goal I feel will be the downfall I'll go 2 1 win to Liverpool.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,750 ✭✭✭redzerdrog

Big European night at Anfield and the knowledge that when klopp had had these lads clicking we are well capable of scoring 3+ gives me hope!

    Come on!!!!!

Same as. I don't let it get to me as bad any more - must be having kids - but I'm a mess the last couple days.

Obviously I'd like to see LFC eliminated for the lols but its going to be very tough for Villarreal, you simply cannot write them off when it comes to big games like this. I don't think LFC will lose but not losing alone probably wouldn't be enough to see them through.

    Should be an interesting match.

I can see us winning but going out on away goals.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

I think Liverpool will win 3-1, or go through on pens, or win the game but get knocked out on away goals, or draw 0-0, or get beaten in 90 minutes. That's what I think will happen. Yes I'm sticking with that prediction.

    Or am I?

Sturridge to get injured in the warm up.

Thread starter spelled Villarreal wrong. I think he should be banned from making match threads.

unless we win. In that case he will be crowned king of all the worlds.

1-1 draw, think Villarreal might go in front and dampen the atmosphere.

    17-0 to Villarreal.

    Meh, typo. Who cares?

You cared enough to make a match thread about your rival team's fixture anyways.

You just don't get that kind of dedication here anymore. Fair play.

I'm talking about a typo. What you said has nothing to do with anything.
I started a Bayern v Atletico match thread too, anything to say about that?
    What's the big deal?
Maybe chat about the match or something?

Liverpool to scrape through by the skin of their teeth.

I'm thinking an early goal for Villarreal to quieten Anfield, and hoping the boys have enough in them for another "great European comeback"

Match thread started by a Uni...Villarreal fan.

The jinx/anti-jinx waft is strong in here today!
Good luck to the hundreds of Villarreal fans on here tonight :p

Win or lose i hope it's a good game of football.

I think this is a win or lose game for Liverpool

    Or draw

I think people need to get over who started the match thread. Anyone who is upset or offended by that needs to take a long, hard look at themselves but if a mod wants to delete my OP and replace it with LuckLloyd's then fire away if it untangles the tighty whiteys of the more precious among us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

As long as Villarreal ( :) )doesn't score Liverpool can make it.

If they do, it will become almost impossible to get back
