Health Insurane costs

Not sure if this is the correct place for this.
I work for a multi national company and I get my health insurance via them. Its based on an online "flex it" system, you have a certain number of credits and you can buy holidays, health insurance etc

I am most likely a moron, but it looks like I am paying the following for health Insurance via work

> 1217.63 Euro for my medical insurance
> 1217.63 for my wife's medical insurance
> 731.90 for the 2 children's medical insurance.

This adds up to 3167 Euro.
Does this amount seem very high?
This is just for the above basic package with VHI. (e.g. 25 Euro back for each doctor visit)

Im thinking I may be as well off forgetting about the health insurance via work and just buy my own insurance, from what ive briefly looked at, I can get it way cheaper than 3167 Euro

Anyone have any thoughts?

I seriously doubt that any 'basic' package from any medical insurer will involve rebates for GP visits, they typically cover inpatient procedures only (in 'approved' hospitals) with zero or very little cover for outpatient/optical/dental care. Are you sure you're comparing like with like?

Probably not. Just had a very quick browse. Didn't stare and compare.

Regardless though, does 3167 Euro a year seem very expensive for health insurance for a family of 4 ?

Now I know people will say you can't put a price on health etc but it does seem a bit expensive.

Thanks. Yeah, they are both well under 6. (1 year and 2.5 years)

We have that gp card for them Both alright.
