So last year we switched to Meteor in order to have internet access while we were abroad - it was the best deal .... BUT because most of our calls were to the likes of Vodafone it ended up costing quite a lot.
We will be away for almost a month this time and are trying to figure out the best deal while we are away but am getting bamboozled with the packages and the new roaming laws ... anyone any recommendations?

ETA- would stay with the network here too if its a decent deal

If you are staying in one country for the whole time, you might be better off to get a local sim for your needs, especially if you are mainly want data.

We will be in France for the whole time but will need it for calls and texts home also so thinking an Irish network and port over the number (big hassle to change numbers tbh)

Eir & Meteor both introduced free Roam-like-home across EU on Bill-pay. Most of their bundles have any network minutes and texts which you can use like if you were at home. Free 1GB roaming data over 30 days. And tethering is allowed.

Getting a Prepay SIM in France is a huge ordeal. Worst country to get one. I did it once but wouldn't recommend it.

Thanks! .. I hadn't thought of looking into bill pay - will have a nose on Meteor and see what they are offering.
