Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I heard rumors that Frances is getting the Tanaiste position, and that Leo isn't getting health again. Apart from that, zilch.

Fitzgerald for Tanaiste is a good bet alright. With Varadkar and Coveney the favourites for succeeding Kenny, choosing one of them would be seen as anointing a successor and starting a row.

I read more than once that Varadkar was staying in Health, although he may feel he's done his time there.

Simon Harris widely tipped for promotion too.

Lord Ross jumps the gun and announces he's the Transport Minister - that'll do wonders for the Luas strike!

Denis Naughten gets Communications. Rural broadband will obviously be a big priority there after him saying you'd get better broadband on the moon.

Coveney to Housing, Planning and Local Government. Will have a serious job on his hands with the housing crisis and the ongoing water charges fiasco.

Breakingnews was saying Leo might stay in health, punishment for his comments and approach to talks with FF and Independents I'd say.

Wouldn't see it as a demotion for Coveney. Housing, homelessness and mortgage arrears are are probably the most high profile issues facing the country at the moment.

Mary couldn't even find her way out of Leinster House 5 years ago and now she is a cabinet minister.

Cabinet is probably a little bit more Fine Gael than it appears. Two of the independent ministers (Ross and Naughten) are ex-Fine Gael.

On Ross - can he continue writing for the Indo now that he is a Minister?

Obviously Ministers have contributed newspaper articles in the past, but as a regular columnist?

I don't think there's anything specifically prohibiting it, but I can't see it happening. He can't be taking potshots at a government he's part of. Nor can he be telling tales from the cabinet table. It all might be a bit uninteresting.

In addition to this, he'd open himself up to accusations of doing nixers while on a ministers salary. Not to mention flak for being on Denis O'Brien's payroll.
