Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Although Manchester United/Norwich may have Euro/Relegation ramifications in the grand scheme of things the biggest game in England today is at the Riverside.

Both sides are locked on 88 points, but at this point Boro have +2 GD over Brighton meaning a draw would be enough for them, a win for Brighton sees them promoted.

Could we possibly see Chris Hughton promoted while his old club Newcastle go down or Middlesbrough who will surely replace one of their north east rivals back in the top flight since exiting in 2009.

Would like to see Chris Houghton win promotion as he seems like a likeable man but M'boro can play lovely football ( at times)..should be a good game..

Can see it being a draw, but would like a Brighton win

Slight hint of offside from the free but good goal. Huge task for Brighton

Reminds me of the game between Birmingham and Reading a few years back. Another winner takes all game. Reading choked that day. Birmingham went up and Reading into the playoffs where they lost 0-1 and 0-2 to Burnley.

EDIT: Boro in front. Nice goal.

    Damn.. Should have been 2.
    Nerves shot. C'mon Boro

All good for Boro so far. Expecting Brighton to come at us second half but Boro so solid at home defensively. Crowd have been fantastic. Up the Boro!!!!

Burnley strolling to the title. Want to win the league? Play your last game at Charlton.

    1-1. Nice goal.

    Red card for Brighton

Brighton down to ten. Turning into a cracker this.

Glad I turned over to this. Tough decision for that red.

Ooof, nasty tackle. Look at that gash on Ramirez's leg.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,156 ✭✭✭OldRio

    Straight red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    Gashton Ramirez!

Not sure there was intent there, but that wound is horrific.

Pretty much exactly this. Thought red was a bit harsh, but studs up like that is leaving a question of the ref.

Has Towell got any game time at all for Brighton?

Has Towell got any game time at all for Brighton?

Got a run out in the FA cup, full 90 minutes. Hasn't gotten past the bench since.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Brighton on thin ice with discipline

Wouldnt be shocked to see Boro bottle this. Hopefully not though.

    What a save.

    What a save.

Would've been another offside goal and all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,259 ✭✭✭HalloweenJack

Well yeah but still impressive to pull that off.

    Eight minutes added time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Losing possession from a throw in from that position with 2 mmins left is criminal

Delighted for Boro and Karanka. Would've loved to see Brighton go up too but Boro have always been a club I'm fond of.

I would not have much hope for Middlesbrough next season after watching that. Really bad decision making.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,156 ✭✭✭OldRio

YEESSS. I worked over in the Boro for nearly 30 years. Rough tough place but I've been a fan for 45 years.
I hope to hell Brighton go up as well. Good luck to them in the playoffs.

They have played some lovely football this season but the performance did not matter at all today. All about the result.

Think the ref will have some questions to answer after today.

Fair play to Middlesbrough, felt they deserved it over the season.

It was disrespectful really to give the game to that clown of a ref. Surely Michael Oliver would have been better given that this was the biggest game in England this weekend.

The red card decision was arguable and I won't say it was a wrong one but the way he came to the decision was a joke. He wasn't going to do anything until Ramirez rolled down his sock. It looked like one of those where the injured player actually kicked into the studs of the opponent to cause the injury.

Dean then proceeded to give absolutely every decision to Middlesbrough for the remaining half an hour.

I wouldn't go as far as to say his performance changed the result and I would say Middlesbrough are worthy of their place in the PL. It's hard to see Brighton recovering from this to win the play-offs.

Thank **** that is over! Ive only just calmed down. So happy Boro are back in the Premier League. 7 years since relegation and its been hell in that league Really hope this doesnt dishearten Brighton and that they win the playoffs. Great team and manager there and after finishing on 89 points, its so cruel they're not going up automatically.

Well done! I don't think Brighton will go up now.

I've seen more sensible and balanced refereeing in LOI D1 on hundreds of occasions.
