Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was. I said I'd no grá for Mourinho last year. Then today I said welcome. Hilarious stuff altogether.
Was I meant to say f*ck off Jose or something?

Get a t-shirt printed with that on it ;-)

LVG - "your expectations are too high"

Mourinho - "forget the last 3 years, we need to believe we can win"

.... I had/have reservations over Jose but that's what Manchester United are about - chalk and cheese!

Stuart Gardner on MUTV goes straight to Paddy Crerand's meltdown on national radio in the UK, and reads out comments (tongue in cheek) that Paddy should be sacked.

Got my 12 euro jersey down heatons today no better day for it.

They also have replica 99 european cup final jersey's and the black united jersey from the sharp era if anyones intrested.

Mourinho in 2013 said he is a subsciber to MUTV.

Employees of United get free access to MUTV.

Rashford in the starting line up for England tonight. Mad stuff altogether. Might tune in so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,755 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

I love how MUTV are airing so much criticism of the past few years, while welcoming Jose.

Yeah I have to say for the first time I am glad MUTV are addressing Paddys embarassing outburst on radio and also allowing callers to vent their fruatration at the past 3 years.

Also.... That ad where the your man says "Grey skies and dreary cobbles they said, a football club born on its ed." Your mans voice goes through my bleedin ed!

Disgraceful. The man is a multi-millionaire and he stoops so low as to take a job at United to get MUTV for free.

Delighted he never came to out club. No class.

Excellent player from what we've seen so far, delighted for him... but it's a bit of a joke. If he played for West Ham and had the exact same season he did for us, he wouldn't even be getting marginal consideration without a good few injuries.

That's just something that winds me up no end about some teams (the English are possibly the worst for it) - often time you see players doing excellent at their clubs but barely get a look in, and the minute a big club picks them up, off they got straight into the international team.

We've not signed a player yet, we're months away from kicking a ball in the new season, but judging by the oppositions fan's reaction, the fear factor is already back.

The outcry about him not really being wanted by United fans before (some did, some didn't, same as every other manager going for every job ever), about what a sh*t appointment is, how it will all end in tears, how we would prefer someone else before now etc.........

Delicious. If this wasn't a good appointment, opposition fans wouldn't be falling over themselves to dismiss it.

Opposition fans wanted Louis Van Gaal.

He got us a trophy and some teams haven't won a trophy for a long time, they are just disappointed he retired and not available for their club.

Lots of praise from the people at MUTV for Louis as a person, saying how nice a person he is.
Paddy Crerand said the same thing, but also added 'the football didn't do much for me'.

It's mad. The managers are more talented than the players, if that makes sense.
A disproportionate number of top managers to players or indeed teams in the league.

Still I think it's fantastic and will make for a fascinating season.

Raneiri won't be in the picture next season IMO.

Jaysus, the English media are going to ruin him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,755 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

I wonder if Mourinho will want to replace both centre backs for next season.

I think Blind gets replaced as a CB, but will Smalling survive?
My opinion of Smalling is he good but nowhere near the level of a top form Vidic or Rio.
I wonder if Varane will be pushing for a move to join Jose, given Jose trusted him at Real Madrid when he was just 19 years old, which smashes the myth that Jose does not give young players a chance.
Varane looks like he will not be first choice next season either at Real Madrid.

Then reports that Marquinhos is looking for a move as he is not first choice at PSG with Thigao Silva and David Luiz being first choice.
United and Barcelona linked with him.

We also have United linked with Manolas.

    Then there is John Stones.

    ----
Wouldn't mind buying two defenders and offloading Phil Jones, who is more brittle than an egg shell.

    Easy really.

Was that a bit of a shinner? Doesn't matter. Sure Rooneys overhead against City was a shinner too. Must be a winning technique.

It's always easy if you're in the right spot having lost your man. Inzaghi made a 20 year career out of it. ;)

Will Keane's injury was a blessing for United given it promoted Rashford.

I have seen it argued that LVG stripped the team rather bare so he could give the younger players a chance if the opportunity arose.
Who knows what is true, I expect LVG didn't expect so many injuries.

Yes he will. Smalling is quite possibly the best CB in the country and is better than anyone else listed bar Rio, Vidic or Silva. The first two are retired, the third one turns 32 in September.

A top level Rio/Vidic (along with VDS) formed one of the best CB/CB/GK trios in the history of the entire sport, one of them won Premiership POTY twice and the other was the best CB of his generation [not named Nesta] in my opinion. I would LOVE to have more of that, but kind of like the 90s midfield it is a bit of an unrealistically high bar to set.
