Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would they be wrong to ask questions? Like how can they allow a suspect device into the ground?

    How do you stop it?

You can't individually screen 80,000 people within 2 hours or so.

Ahh stop you don't even know if it was a scare or package or whatever for sure.

How do flares and knives get into most stadiums then?Through concealment and you can deter but not prevent everything.

If it's viable or not it's the right thing to do English football has had enough tragedies.Glad it was spotted and everyone left safely.

Same way it happened in paris, or any plane, or train, bus etc

Obviously goes without saying hope evacuation goes smoothly and nothing serious ACTUALLY happens.

My uncle and cousin were over there. He's just off the phone and they think a bomb has been found. (Well that's what the crowd seem to be saying)

Yeah there must be some substance to what they found to abandon the match.

Thankfully nobody was hurt. I just hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

The match won't be played before the da cup final Tuesday or Wednesday following it I'd say

You make it sound like it was invited in and they gave directions to where to leave the package.

No ground is or can be 100% safe.

Feel sorry for all those who made the trip. I'd say the game was close to a sell out

They emptied half the ground in minutes,it's amazing at how quickly and easily they can do it safely.

I suppose there is a somewhat irrelevance to how things pan out. The fact City went 1-0 in five minutes, moments before the announcement of abandoned it, already compounded that the match today is a bit irrelevant.

Yeah was just applauding security in a groupchat with mates. I was watching a US Stream(I'm on PC at the mo) at it was incredible how quick and organised people were evacuated and redirected outside the ground.

Due to the discovery of a suspect package in the NW Quadrant of the ground, the match has been abandoned today on police advice. #mufc

He said there are police everywhere but nobody really knew what was going on at first.

Been evacuated now so everyone in that stand seems to be safe and in the clear.

Hope it turns out to be a false alarm though. But great work by the police and Man Utd to get everyone out safely.

I know it's not a time for jokes but maybe that's what happened to City last week?:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭Crimson King

Surprised something like this does not happen more often tbh. Impossible to predict and impossible to stop if one is determined enough.

Hopefully it's a false alarm, after all it's only a game of football being effected. God forbid an actual incident occurred.

    Yes.

Is that particularly important right now?

Good thing I made this comment before the West Ham game and not today's match, or I'd be worried about getting a knock on the door :o
Well, all things considered, this has turned into quite a tedious affair.

The fans' behaviour. Man Utd's logistical preparation. Sky's coverage. And this thread.

Can't pick a winner. Might just flip a coin and hope it explodes and wipes out everything and everyone involved tonight.

I remember last week somebody suggested we could be a target for terrorism and then another user basically laughed at him for suggesting it.

Guess this means we are a target and it will be a scary euros to go this summer.

    Rules On Abandoned Games:

The match can be played within 48 hours after the original kick-off

It can played anytime during an apporitate point in the season. None left however

However if the FA decides the game should not be replayed then the fixture will be recorded as a 0-0

Swansea don't look like scoring. Nearly half time without a shot on target.

    Bye bye CL
