A lot of looney lefties now been exposed as the violent thugs they are now in America. I hope they keep it up as it will do great damage to crooked Hillarys campaign.

Just saw the video of a bunch of "protestors" beating one of their own until he starts chanting "BERNIE! BERNIE!" to assure them of his credentials. Between that and the other attacks, it's clear what a nasty bunch of radicals they are.

Good to hear. I won't hold my breath waiting for column inches denouncing it over here though.

Not mocking that aspect, I'm mocking the way people call him a "racist" for wanting to vet incoming Muslims to the USA - perfectly legitimate considering the worrying percentages of Muslims that have sympathy for ISIS.

I bet lot of people said the same thing about the Jews in 1920's. Hitler did not mass murder Jews in 1929 he made them wear badges and told them to leave. He decided to wipe them out a decade later.

Trump has said all Muslims should be banned and even went as far as saying Muslims should carry a special religious ID. If you think thats not racist you're a moron.

Green party and AAA/PBP to protest the visit of Trump.

I nearly feel like going along and have a protest against the stupid protesters and to ask them what is so special about Hillary that makes her better.

Venezuela leader was a dictator it was not a socialist state.

Hahaha! Oh man, I'm glad to have lived through a period seeing Venezuela being held aloft as the New Way to being discarded.

Venezuela leader was a dictator it was not a socialist state. Cuba has been a socialist state for 50+ years its never failed know matter how much America tried it never failed. America left those countries alone they probably be fine.

Can you somehow prove how these countries would be fine though? Cuba is a failed socialist state. It has just announced that they are going to allow private small and medium sized businesses to operate. This is a testament to the failure of socialist policies in the country. If it was a true socialist country wouldn't all the means of production be socially owned?

But I mean, its to easy to blame the US. Latin American countries were highly stratified and unequal societies long before the Americans got involved, with dictatorships and empires, Brazil for example only outlawed Slavery in 1888!!!and Venezuelas has had over 22 constitutions since the country received Independence from Spain in the 19th century.

I have a friend who lived there for 15 years. He said US sanctions and the fall in oil prices and corruption crippled the economy.I think he would know better then people looking in from thousands of miles away.

So true, they were socialist when the oil paid, but now they are not when they can't even afford to feed their people.

    ridiculous comparison.

I notice on places like the Journal, that pro-Trump comments are fare more popular than anti-Trump comments.
    Same on twitter.

It may be the case that the politicians here along with the media are supporting the least popular position towards Trump.

Donald Trump does not wish to vet incoming Muslims (they, along with everybody else are already vetted). He wishes to ban them indefinitely.
There is a large crucial difference.

Worrying when someone's words have to amended at every turn to make them sound partway reasonable.

As with Venezuela, sure the US and the CIA were involved, but Chavez ran the country from 1999-2013, then Maduro from 2013 to now. The result of Venenezuelas current crisis is the result of price controls and other counter-intuitive economic policies.

But I mean, its to easy to blame the US.

I can't stay on forums all day debating this i actually have work to do. Cuba provides Free Education, Free Healthcare to its people. Cuba experiences Low Crime.

America kids stuck with huge debt if they go to College. Millions of America have know Health insurance. Hospitals and clinics they turn you away will not even treat your illness or injury. Which country is more backward?

They provided all this even though the country was heavily sanctioned. Cuba is not failed state. The country provides services that people actually need to have a good life.

She's far from better in my opinion. At least Trump didn't oversee the complete destabilisation of countries like Egypt and Libya..

In fairness to Robert KK, the NYT article on Hillary and Libya he quoted from was an excellent analysis. I wouldn't share his conclusions on it but I respect his position.
But please - Egypt is doing it to themselves - please don't tell me you blame Hillary for that mess.

Not getting involved in this "Muslim is/isn't a religion of peace" crap ..

the numbers are there , look for them yourself.

You wanna stick your head in the sand and pretend there isn't an issue with radical Islam ? - fine.

The numbers are where though, that's what I'm asking.

Somebody should have told the various leftie groups that it wasn't socialist then. All through college we had to suffer through the alphabet soup leftie socs putting on screenings of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised and that Oliver Stone propaganda piece (non-bloody-stop), and inviting talks by Chavez government heads etc etc.

Glad to hear the old "It's the US's fault," line still has legs though. Even when Chavez was shutting down media not controlled by him, when he was arming his gangs it was (you guessed it) all because of the Americans and the threat they posed. Handy that.

*looks at self* Nope, still pretty good with not being on the political side of Kim Jong Il on the topic of America's safety.

    Wrong

It is a temporary ban http://www.politico.eu/article/donald-trump-sadiq-khan-muslim-ban-exception-london-mayor-policy/

Only my two cents... But I reckon Donald Trump will become president but then nothing will happen. All this whacky talk of building walls won't come about. The marketing spiel from a candicate to get in. Granted, whacky spiel but spiel none the less.

The anti Trump protest will either be led by self pro claimed anti fascist types or will be hijacked by them ,, Which from past experience they will resort to violence , all of which will backfire and will end up getting Trump even more media coverage, Trump is a high profile individual and chances are the garda will use more then batons to deal with violent thugs compared to what happened in Dublin on February 6th .

We could reinact the US elections and turn up as Trump supporters and get beaten up by anti-Trump people :pac:

The Irish Times should be ashamed of themselves for that article they have up today, basically made up a load of gormless quotes attributed to Trump and then wangled out of it by adding "imagined by..hack journo" at the bottom of it.

One of the worst hack tricks I've seen in a while, beyond pathetic, and that's coming from someone who thinks Trump would be a terrible president. The media are handing this to him, I don't think the Irish Times matter at all, but some of the US media employ similar tactics and it's merely adding to his trashy populist appeal.

Unless he has given a specific timeline indefinite is most definitely correct.

Until we figure out what is going is not a good timeline. The US has had 15 years since 9/11 and I don't see this issue being sorted out entirely any time soon.
