No Mata, Costa or Torres for Spain.

No Paco Alcacer is surprising too.

is this the confirmed euro squad, surely mata and torres are only missing out because of fa cup and champ league

De Gea and the other Atletico/Real players are there.

Janko should be returning from injury soon enough, they've a poor selection of strikers though.

RP were tipping him as a good ew bet for top golascorer. If fit he will start and a few goals in that group shouldn't be too hard to come by.

ah i couldnt see the full squad in work, sorry to see mata miss out, he just seems like a nice guy

It'll be absolutely shambolic if Casillas starts ahead of de Gea, as is apparently likely to happen.

Mikel San Jose looks a lit like Louis Theroux without glasses.
A few in that squad picked purely on reputation tbh

    Is that a possibility?
Madness if it happens and shows they haven't learned their lessons from last world cup where a few of the veterans were shown too much loyalty by Del Bosque.

Striking how goal shy the German forwards are. The midfielders really are the key. Mario Gomez in Turkey doesn't really count ;)

Even though it's only provisional that's fantastic news for Weigl and Kimmich.

Emre Can is apparently a defender now too, who knew that?
    Besides Loew & Rodgers

Rodgers and Loew used him as a RB/RCB for the same reason - lack of options.

    Vasquez ahead of Paco too.
Top scorer in qualification, 13 goals for Valencia team that didn't try a leg.

Crazy stuff. Picking the jersey ahead of the player.

Can they only pick the final squad form these names ?

I know they are preliminary, but even then it must be an insult to some other players on the fringe.

Surely there is another keeper Spain can bring besides Casillas ?

And does anyone know is it the least Barca/Real dominated squad in recent years ?

And WTF is Schweinsteiger and Podolski still doing around the German squad.
I know Schweinsteiger was or is technically captain, but really how many games has he played this season and even then he was pants.

I expect Klose to be brought back out of retirement at this rate.;)

On the other extreme he has included a few (Sane, Weigl, Kimmich) who have never played or only have a couple of caps.

The more you look at the big name squads, the stronger Belgium look.

I am not allowed discuss …

The squad was similar in '14, they ended up top scorers in the competition.
Swap Klose for Gomez and it was pretty much the same players but they have Reus back this time!

Schweinsteiger was always going. He is the glue that keeps the squad together. He would have gone even if they had taken one of his legs off. And be it only to be the one who keeps the squad together behind the scenes. The last few years he has done much better in the National team then at the Club, even when he was still at Bayern. He is their leader, even if he is only on the bench.

Loew has never been afraid of taking uncapped players that have been exceptional in the season before. Kimmich had done great at his first season at Bayern, Weigl has been outstanding for Dortmund pretty much all season, Sane has found his form again towards the end of the season and can bring something different in terms of attacking options.

The only one I can't understand is that he left Hahn behind, but nominated Podolski. But again, Podolski is an integral part of the team, even when he is not playing.

Was wondering where Bernardo Silva was but he's injured. Better squad than I was expecting. Weird seeing no Helder Postiga :o

They must have the smallest national pool to pick from

To be fair it's not the worst considering the size of NI. Norwood, McGinn, Evans, Davis, Cathcart are all decent enough players, they seem to be well gelled as a team now too.

The Juve rocks at the back and in goal are where they are strongest.
Long and Walters will not physically dominate the 3cbacks.
Will still be very tough to get a point from this game.

There's no danger of them getting any points, Germany, Poland and Ukraine will beat them pretty comfortably.

Didn't we all have this similar opinion before Euro 2012 and Italy beat us comfortably and were one of the best sides in the tournament.

You just never know which Italy will turn up tho Marchisio's injury is a massive blow for them.

Veratti is a bigger blow tbh. In 2012 they had a really strong midfield. Now they rely on the Juve back 4 (buffon included). I would have brought Berardi & Belloti too. Eder has done terrible at Inter & Zaza doesn't get much game time at Juve. I don't think Conte has done a good job either.....
How do Djourou & Senderos stay getting caps. They must have literally nobody else

Anytime I've seen Zaza he looks like a bit of a headless chicken. Now I'm not the biggest expert on Italian football, it's just the impression I get with him.
