Error: "The directory or file cannot be created." SyncToy

Windows 10 x64

I have downloaded SyncToy from two different locations, Microsoft and FileHippo.

In each case I downloaded the SyncToySetupPackage_v21_x64.exe

When I doubleclick on the .exe to run it, it won't open and a window appears with the error message: "The directory or file cannot be created."

Any idea what's wrong?

Have you tried right clicking the exe and "Run as administrator"? May sort it

Thanks for the reply.

After a reboot, I was able to install SyncToy, for some reason.

Also, the problem with my LaCie drive was fixed as follows:

I found this via Google and ran solution one.

I'd never heard of the Devices and Hardware Troubleshooter, but it appears to have worked.
