Ok so imagine that for the majority of the summer Syran? What would you score summer then? That's what most of the country has had this year.

Based on my experience from down the road in Dungarvan, where I spent alot of the summer, you're not in that "Majority"

Believe me I am. I can't vouch for the weather 30 miles away but I'll happily vouch for the weather where I've been all summer.

... Temperature contrast today...the state of us,Christ. Was a lovely sunny day in west mayo though, with wall to wall sunshine, from mid afternoon onwards.

Summer 2016 compared to recent summers with data from my weather station here in north east Kilkenny.

    Mean temperature:
    June 2016: 14.1C, 2015: 12.9C, 2014: 14.1C, 2013: 13.4C
    July 2016: 14.8C, 2015: 13.6C, 2014: 16.1C, 2013: 18.0C
    August 2016: 14.9C, 2015: 13.7C, 2014: 13.2C, 2013: 14.9C

Average mean temperature for the three summers:
    2016: 14.6C
    2015: 13.4C
    2014: 14.5C
    2013: 15.4C

So it is a much warmer +1.2C warmer than last summer.
Rainfall for the summer so far 153mm. Just to compare, in June 2012 had over 178mm for that month.
Overall it has been a good summer.

such is the power of the Atlantic, a contrast ive seen many, many times through the 80s, 90s and beyond. Similar contrasts in winter as well unfortunately except were the ones in the unwanted mild sector.

I'm one of those miserable feckers who'd prefer our 17º degrees to the 30º in London.

Could throw a bit more sunshine in there today though.

I know cirrus are as common as muck in Ireland but they are outstanding today I think. A chilly 17.7c here atm.

The weather is being so nice to me ;), now it's peaked at 25.2c, my warmest day of August. I feel like Supercell. If these last days of August (bar Saturday and Tuesday coming) are going to be like what they are expecting to be like then I will have to give Summer 2016 a 7/10 instead of 6/10.

I feel so special :p, by the looks of things, I could be even warmer tomorrow, really depending on the strength of the sun.

Well Dublin Airport recorded like 24c on 9 July 2013 and I recorded 29c, so I'm used to the contrast .
