Bray Air Pollution

I find that hard to believe given that Bray air is quite clean compared to before smoky coal was banned.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Well, today it is fine http://www.epa.ie/air/quality/data/by/

I cannot find the original report, which should identify the time and length of the exceeded. Given the monitoring station is off the Boghall Road, where the use of soil fuel for heating is significant during the winter months, I am not surprised.

It should also be noted that the increase in wood burning stoves is leading to rise in PM 2.5 and 10 across many urban areas. Not all stoves are Defra approved or national equivalent for reduced smoke and particles. https://smokecontrol.defra.gov.uk/appliances.php

The smoky coal ban up until very recently (2012) was against the sale in certain areas, not the burning of the fuel. So you could buy it from outside the area. The ban on burning is not enforced!
