My 3T focuses perfectly. A work colleague noticed that his 3T had lost focus so he sent it back and it was fixed for free.

Clearing the cache for the camera app and force stopping it seems to have helped.

I'll give it another few days and if it continues, then it'll be going back for repair.

I think I'll give it a while and see if they iron out the inevitable bugs.

When it starts turn off your VPN and let it download then turn it back on before rebooting.

OK that took me too long to figure out. The notification dots aren't enabled by default, you have to go to Settings>Apps>>Special Access>Notification Access and enable for your launcher.

Feels like a strange update. The blue settings drawer fonts don't fit with the theme of the OS. I do however like OnePlus's cheeky Easter egg in the clock! (1 shows up red).

Anyone been able to get the Google feed working with a side loaded Pixel Launcher?

Also, how does PIP work? Can't seem to get it going at all.

It seems to only work with a few apps. YouTube app doesn't work but YouTube Red does. If you use Chrome you can get it to work by going to the YouTube website and selecting the desktop version. Go full screen on the video and then hit home. It's supposed to work in Google Maps too but I haven't tried.

Don't particularly like the new style of notifications on the lock screen. They seem a bit big and clown like.

So was the 'Google now' (or whatever they call it this week), borked before android 8 or after? Man its killed all my tech related stuff and replaced it with Al Porter, sport, celeb and other boring craptastic **** I don't care about... WTF google? where has my stuff gone? :(

have told it I don't care for that crap yet on refresh it puts them back in... grrr

Anyone else have an annoying android system notification? Mine constantly tells me AntiVirus is running in the background and I can't dismiss it. It goes off when I open the antivirus app but comes back again.

Any reason why you've anti virus installed?

I see they've allowed you to now set a custom/local ringtone for your notifications as well as the usual SMS ringtone.

Lost all Bluetooth functionally, connects for seconds then drops off. Disaster.

Anyone care to advise how to roll back to 7.0?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,839 ✭✭✭✭dahat

Is anyone running Open Beta 27 on OP3? Has Bluetooth improved?

I had to roll back to 7.1.1 as bluetooth was awful on the update posted above.

Another bug since the update - every once in a while Google will start automatically reading items I have saved in the Pocket app. Haven't quite worked out if something in particular is triggering it.

Long-press on the notification => All Categories => Apps running in Background => Importance => Low. You'll only see it at the bottom of your notification list then, no icon, and removed from the lock-screen

So is 8.0 the last major update we'll be getting for the 3/3T?

Most likely this will be (Officially) the last major update.

Marshmallow>Nougat>Oreo isn't bad going considering the OP2 didn't even get Nougat update.

Anyone else having trouble getting Google Assistant on the Oreo update?
I have my language settings set to US as I did on 7.1 but it's not prompting me to use Assistant for some reason.

    Edit:
Nevermind, I think it was just the Google App itself, I uninstalled the updates for the Google App then opened the app and went to settings and the settings for assistant showed up, once I set it up I re-installed the updates and it was back to normal.

Hope this is useful for anyone who might have the same issue.

couple of days from now, you can always download a vpn and set it to canada if u want the update now but then again don't rush on updating.

So far loads of people who updated isn't happy. Wait out for a bit before updating

    Did the update this morning.

Charged phone from 30% went back later it was 100% charged. Noticed the phone was warm.

    Never had that ever before???

I went back to Nougat but it involved a full wipe of the phone.

    3 or 3T?

Battery actually better on my 3 since the update.

AFAIK You can if your rooted but it's very awkward to do, that's from what I remember from doing it with a different phone & version of Android.

I know it's annoying to do but if you factory reset the phone "sometimes" it fixes the battery drain issue, if you do decide to reset then my advice would don't backup from your previous setup as there could be some setting causing the drain, better to start from scratch with a new major update.

    HTH.

I'm on the 3 myself and it seems to have gotten better when it's on standby but when I'm using the phone it's going down fairly quickly.
On Nougat I use to get a day and a half - 2 days out of a full charge with moderate to heavy use but on Oreo I'm just getting 1 full day with the same usage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,962 ✭✭✭Greenman

This battery drain is a disaster.

On Nougat with mild use I was getting 2 days.

On Oreo with no use I'm getting down to 2% in 3 hours.

I really wish I could get back to Nougat.

Lesson learnt if I get another update, read the reviews before installing.

Considering a factory restore, I wonder would that help?

    Thanks.

Only issue I have had is Bluetooth with the car kit acting funny but a reboot clears it.
Re battery suggestion would be to reboot to recovery and wipe the cache.
Normally helps me after an update

    Did that thanks.

Maybe a new fix will come through soon as I know I'm not the only one.

These updates generally bring problems, there really needs to be an option to upgrade or not.

My phone had 33% battery last night and still powered down sometime during the night.

    Hey guys,
Just got the notification to update this morning. Since it seems to be a pretty major update (the "Updated Quick Settings" bullet point makes me nervous) I'm here to ask the same question I ask every time they release a big update: Can I still have an invert colours toggle switch in my quick settings? I've read a couple of people saying it's stopped working since the update, and more than anything else this is something I need, so wanna make sure before pulling the trigger...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,238 ✭✭✭Ardennes1944

Invert colours is still there on my Oreo OP3 anyway and it works, first time Ive ever tried it!
